The Shores of Gold is an exciting new storyline embedded into the shared world of Sea of Thieves. This adventure will have you embarking on a journey to the Shores of Gold, a fabled lost island in the Sea of Thieves.
There are a total of nine Tall Tales that comprise the Shores of Gold story. Here we have in-depth walkthroughs of each Tall Tale to help guide any pirates who might find themselves stuck along the way.
Not every Tall Tale is the same. One pirate might be sent in search of clues and artifacts on one selection of islands, while another pirate—completing the same Tall Tale—might be sent in search of different clues and different artifacts, on a separate selection of islands.
Accordingly, each walkthrough has many variations of the same Tale to help guide you on your unique journey. Images, thorough explanations, and a map will help ensure that you are never lost throughout your journey.
The Shroudbreaker Guide
Start your adventure with the first Shores of Gold Tall Tale: The Shroudbreaker. This is the first of nine Tall Tales leading to the mysterious “Shores of Gold” hidden beyond the Devil’s Shroud. Ships cannot navigate the Devil’s Shroud without the protection of the Shroudbreaker and will wreck from its forces. You must first find this vital artifact to reach the Shores of Gold.

The Cursed Rogue Guide
Having completed the first Tall Tale and finding the Shroudbreaker, you discover it’s missing four stones needed to activate its power. The Mysterious Stranger suggests Captain Briggsy, a pirate who reached the Shores of Gold, might know where to find them. However, Captain Briggsy has become a fearsome Skeleton Lord, jealously guarding her secrets.
The Order of Souls has ways of extracting such secrets. To do so, Madame Olivia will need Captain Briggsy’s skull. In this Cursed Rogue Tall Tale, you must find Captain Briggsy, defeat her, and retrieve her skull for Madame Olivia so she can assist you on your journey.

The Legendary Storyteller Guide
For the Legendary Storyteller, we will begin with the following memory:
“Tasha… a girl in a tavern, staring in awe as the firelight flickers and great tales are told…”
As it turns out, these great tales were stories Briggsy told Tasha about her adventures at sea. However, unable to sail with Briggsy herself, young Tasha wrote stories and drew pictures reliving Briggsy’s adventures.
Although young Tasha’s vibrant imagination adds plenty of color to the stories, the underlying information as to Briggsy’s exploits remains—and might just lead you to a Shroudbreaker stone.

Stars of a Thief Guide
For Stars of a Thief, this memory may help light our path:
“Sudds… A dear friend who threads his way across the wildest oceans by the light of the stars…”
Sudds and Briggsy were dear friends and shared a deep respect for the storied skies over the Sea of Thieves.
Believing she and Sudds were likely the only two to truly know the constellations—and the only two to possess an Enchanted Spyglass for viewing such constellations—Briggsy used this knowledge to hide a Shroudbreaker stone.

Wild Rose Guide
Our next tale begins with the following memory culled from Briggsy’s skull:
“Wild Rose… True love shining like a beacon that calls across the waves…”
Despite Briggsy’s reputation, she fondly recalls a romance that bloomed aboard her ship. Wild Rose and George once sailed with Briggsy, so they might have insight into those Shroudbreaker stones.
Yet, Rose and George are nowhere to be found, and the only hope of locating them lies with Madame Olive, the sole person who might hold the key to their whereabouts!

The Art of the Trickster Guide
It seems Sudds was not the only person Briggsy sought out for their expertise.
“Salty… trembling before a blade, revealing the lair of a Trickster.”
Briggsy sought out Salty, the infamous skeletal parrot, because she wanted to reach one of his acquaintances—a Trapmaker—known as the Trickster.
Heralded as the best Trapmaker in the Sea of Thieves, Briggsy was determined to have the Trickster craft sinister traps along the path to yet another Shroudbreaker stone—whether the Trickster wanted to or not.

The Fate of the Morningstar Guide
If you’ve completed “Wild Rose” then you’ll know that there is a malevolent ritual cursing pirates throughout the Sea of Thieves. It is a ritual that can trap souls!
Upon being slain, the ritual traps the victim’s soul in a physical object, preventing it from reaching the Ferry of the Damned. These souls are left in a state of limbo, unable to die or live. The Ferryman responsible for overseeing souls on the Sea of Thieves cannot allow this but cannot leave his helm. Hearing of your deeds, the Ferryman seeks your assistance.

The Revenge of the Morningstar Guide
Graymarrow and the Morningstar’s crew sought the Shores of Gold and the Shroudbreaker stones. The Morningstar found one, but Graymarrow discovered their success. Instead of killing the crew and risking their return from the Ferry of the Damned, Graymarrow used the vile ritual to trap their souls. Though Graymarrow never found the other three stones, he guards the one he stole. For the cursed Morningstar crew, stealing back the stone would be sweet revenge.

The Shores of Gold Guide
You’ve done it! You’ve acquired all four stones needed to awaken the Shroudbreaker’s power. However, the Shroudbreaker only ensures safe passage through the Shroud and offers no protection once you reach the Shores of Gold. Considering the treacherous journey, expect additional riddles, traps, and tricks on the island. It’s also likely that some pirates, obsessed with the gold, might still be there…
