So, you’ve completed the Shroudbreaker and Cursed Rogue Tall Tales, have you? This means you’ve retrieved Captain Briggsy’s Shroudbreaker artifact, but it is missing a few stones.

Captain Briggsy might have known where those stones were, but there was no way she’d tell anyone…willingly. So, you slew Captain Briggsy, and brought her skull to Madame Olivia, hoping the Order of Souls could extract the information you sought.

The Order cannot extract a specific answer, but it can extract memories that may shed a bit of light on your way to finding the answers.

Madame Olivia extracted memories surrounding these stones, including names of people who once knew Briggsy. These people might have some insight on artifacts which may now hold the stones, but even their insight is incomplete. That’s where this guide comes in!

Beware:
for those trying to solve the Tall Tale themselves
This Guide Contains Spoilers!

Aye, this guide helps pirates better understand the recollections of someone who once knew Briggsy: Tasha. There’s another tool you’ll likely want by your side: the interactive Sea of Thieves companion map. This map has all known locations for each of Tasha’s stories.

You can find the web version of the interactive SoT companion map here.

The Legendary Storyteller Tall Tale: Step by Step

Step 1: Starting the Legendary Storyteller Tall Tale

Sail over to Ancient Spire Outpost. Head up to the tavern, and give Tasha a visit. On her tavern counter, you’ll see the book for the Legendary Storyteller Tall Tale.

After you and your crew vote on the book, stick around. Tasha will tell you a bit more about the book that has just been added to your Map Radial.

It turns out, when Tasha was little, Briggsy would come into the tavern and tell Tasha of her adventures. Fascinated, Tasha would draw recreations of the stories she heard. Tasha is now giving you those childhood drawings to help you find any remnants of Briggsy.

Briggsy likely thought nothing of regaling a child with tales in a tavern. But now, these tales might just lead you to a missing Shroudbreaker stone!

Tasha Legendary Storyteller Start

Step 2: Find the Chalice Key, the Crown Key, and Briggsy’s Chest

The Tall Tale book added to your inventory will come with three stories. Each story will lead you to one of three items: the Chalice Key, the Crown Key, and Briggsy’s Chest.

Below you will find the solution to each story.

Upon digging up the Crown Key and Chalice Key, you will unlock The Storied Crown commendation and The Storied Chalice commendation, respectively.

Smallest Boat

While it is not clear where this adventure begins, we know the story leads first to Golden Sands Outpost. Next, we know our adventure takes us north because it will take us near enough to view Sanctuary Outpost.

North of Golden Sands, you should see two large rocks. If you pass through those two rocks, and continue straight—such that Sanctuary Outpost is off in the distance to your left—straight ahead will be Lone Cove.

Lone Cove is your destination.

Head to the northwest side of the island, at sea level you will see an opening to a cave. Follow the darkened passageway until you emerge in a hideout. Inside that hideout, you will see a broken rowboat. Dig just in front of that rowboat to find the one of the three quest items.

See the exact location on your map: Smallest Boat Treasure Location.

Fish Friends

Fish Friends will lead you to the isle named for other sea life: Mermaid’s Hideaway.

You will need to dig atop the northernmost pillar of the island. Bring in the cannons! Aye, you can use a cannon from your ship to get way up there.

Helpful little tip: you can also use the palm trees on the pillar as a backboard to stop yourself from over shooting.

You will find one of the three quest items here atop the rock pillar. There’s not much room to dig up there. So, it shouldn’t be too long before you here the *thunk* of treasure beneath your shovel.

Pinpoint that rock pillar on your map: Fish Friends Treasure Location.

Treasure Adventure

This adventure begins at Dagger Tooth. From there, our adventurer sails to Shipwreck Bay and look off the tip of the broken bowsprit to see an island off in the distance. This is an uncharted island with the coordinates K-9.

Between the two halves of the island, beneath the waves, lies an old wrecked ship. The ship’s bow is on one side, the aft on the other, but the belly of the ship has sunk deep between the two.

Dive down and wait to see the glint of treasure.

The island might be uncharted on your ship’s map, but we’ve got a marker on ours: Treasure Adventure Treasure Location.

Baddies Attack

Baddies Attack will take you to the Ancient Isles. South of Discovery Ridge and Plunder Valley, there is a smaller island, whose landscape is dominated by a large wrecked ship: Old Salt Atoll.

Dig beneath the wrecked ship’s bowsprit. There you will unearth one of the three quest items.

See your destination on your map: Baddies Attack Treasure Location.

Naughty Man

This story is a bit different from the others. It begins with the treasure’s location, then wends its way back to Galleon’s Grave.

Following the story in reverse—and using the compass directions—from Galleon’s Grave, you can track the story westward to where Briggsy got a drink at a tavern called the Snake Pit. This is the tavern at Dagger Tooth.

From there, retrace her steps north to Old Faithful Isle, where it seems she is looking westward at her treasure to make sure it is still safe. The island she is looking at is Scurvy Isle. Dig next to the small rock on the East side to locate one of the three quest items.

See your destination on the map: Naughty Man Treasure Location.

Monster Hunting

Although this story begins in the Ancient Isles, you will end up in The Wilds. Standing high atop Ancient Spire, if you look north, you’ll spot the rock formation in the pictures.

It seems our adventurer sailed through that rock formation, continuing in that trajectory, until she landed upon Crook’s Hollow. From there she spots an island in the distance with three spires. This is Crooked Masts.

Head on over to The Crooked Masts.

Once there, find the bow of a shipwreck sticking out of the water on the South West side of the island. Dive down to the bottom of the Shipwreck, and wait until you see the gleam of treasure!

See your diving location on your map: Monster Hunting Treasure Location.

Monster Island

In Sea of Thieves, when we hear the word “monster,” we usually think of the Kraken or the Meg. However, this is an altogether different monster.

Southwest of Ancient Spire, there is a large island with an equally large opening—big enough to sail a ship into, as shown in the pictures: Thieves’ Haven.

Once you sail into the belly of Thieves’ Haven, you’ll see a shipwreck. If you climb the main mast of the shipwreck, you’ll see another ladder at the top: climb that ladder, too.

When you emerge, you should see and hear a waterfall. Head to the waterfall, then head up the little hill that leads behind the waterfall. There you will see the “Three Colossal Stone Heads.”

Dig just in front of that statue to discover one of your three quest items.

Find your digging site on your map: Monster Island Treasure Location.

Scary Friends

This is easily one of our favorite stories! Although you could head straight for the treasure, this is a fun one to follow along as she plays with her Kraken friends.

If you stop to think which island likely has the most Kraken skeletons, it won’t take you long to suspect that this story unfolds at Kraken’s Fall.

The item in question is actually not buried. Instead, your quest item is hiding on top of a kraken skeleton on the North beach.

Jump up onto the skeleton and hop along the spine like it’s a jungle gym. Soon enough, you’ll see the glint and gleam of treasure.

Find your treasure-bearing friend on your map: Scary Friends Treasure Location.

Windy Wings

There is one particular island known for its many bird statues: Plunder Valley. The drawings show our adventurer arriving on the island and chasing a sailor up… and up… and up…

You will find the Tale item you seek on top of Plunder Valley. There is a prominent bird statue with a pathway leading up to it. Just before that pathway, there is a skeleton laying in the grass.

Is that the skeleton of the chased sailor? Perhaps. After all, it is right next to that skeleton that you will find your quest item.

See your digging site on your map: Windy Wings Treasure Location.

Birthday Party

Surrounded by Lagoon of Whispers, Sailors Knot, and Twin Groves, there is a large island with many little settlements, now in ruins: Wanderer’s Refuge.

It seems those settlements were still standing when Briggsy celebrated her birthday on this island. Although the settlements are crumbling, the water well you see in the pictures remains.

From the well, head up the hill and find a spot between two palm trees with lanterns. Dig between these two trees.

Wanderer’s Refuge is a large island, it might help to pinpoint where you’ll need to dig on your map: Birthday Party Treasure Location.

Rescue Mission

With several caves carved through the island up high and below, there is little mystery why this island is called “Crook’s Hollow.”

Head up to the island’s middle level, then head to the south of the island. On a cliff overlooking the beach, there are two bridges in a row. On the West side of these bridges, there will be a buried Tale item, awaiting your discovery.

See the exact spot on your map: Rescue Mission Treasure Location.

Step 3: Dig Up The Ancient Crown

Using the plank of wood you find from Briggsy’s Chest, you will locate the final item in this quest. The plank of wood will have holes in it that will line up with prominent features of an island.

Turning the plank over while it is equipped will reveal coordinates on the back of the plank. These coordinates will take you to the island the plank belongs to.

Below are some of the islands that the wood plank will be used on.

Mermaid’s Hideaway

If the plank of wood you find from Briggsy’s Chest is for Mermaid’s Hideaway, you will need to line up the cutout with the rock pillar to the north and the rock formation in the pond. After lining up those rock formations, the small cutout will lead you to the location to dig up the Ancient Crown.

Mermaid's Hideaway Carved Plank

Discovery Ridge

If the plank of wood you find from Briggsy’s Chest is for Discovery Ridge, you will need to line up the cutout with the shipwreck located to the West of the island. After lining up the plank with the shipwreck, the small cutout will lead you to the location to dig up the Ancient Crown.

Smuggler’s Bay

If the plank of wood you find from Briggsy’s Chest is for Smuggler’s Bay, you will need to line up the cutout with the main arch of the island that has a rope bridge. Stand inside the bay and face South. After lining up the plank with the rock bridge and the overturned rowboat, the small cutout will lead you to the location to dig up the Ancient Crown.

Plunder Valley

If the plank of wood you find from Briggsy’s Chest is for Plunder Valley, you will need to line up the cutout with the Eagle rock formation on the West beach. After lining up the plank with the rock formation, the small cutout will lead you to the location to dig up the Ancient Crown.

Cannon Cove

If the plank of wood you find from Briggsy’s Chest is for Cannon Cove, you will need to line up the cutout with the main “cannon” rock formation and the rocks in the water on the North West beach. After lining up the plank with the rocks, the small cutout will lead you to the location to dig up the Ancient Crown.

Lone Cove

If the plank of wood you find from Briggsy’s Chest is for Lone Cove, you will need to line up the cutout with the middle rock standing South by South East. After lining up the plank with the rocks, the small cutout will lead you to the location to dig up the Ancient Crown.

Marauder’s Arch

You will want to use the carved plank at the highest peak located on the South West side of the island. You will line up the plank with the large tall rock that has a tree on it and a boulder to the right.

Shipwreck Bay

You will stand on the South West small islet and line up the plank with the bow of the ship and the highest point of the island. Matching your plank with those two features will show you where to dig for the Ancient Crown.

Kraken’s Fall

For Kraken’s Fall, you will head to the North West beach and line up your plank with the shipwreck that has a Kraken’s Skull on it.

Shark Bait Cove

Head to the center of the island and use the middle shark statue to match the carved plank.

Digging up the Ancient Crown will unlock the Tasha’s Dream commendation.

Smuggler's Bay Carved Plank

Step 4: Return to Tasha

With the Ancient Crown in hand, head back to Ancient Spire Outpost to return it to Tasha in the tavern. Giving her the crown will unlock The Legendary Storyteller commendation.

Good catch! I could have sworn I had written that down but nope. I only mention that some planks have the coordinates on the back but I believe it is all too. Thank you for commenting! Will make note of it now 🙂

      1. Jonathan Garrison

This means that you do not have that location in your book.

Inside your quest info will be 3 stories, those will be your 3 locations for the chest and keys. Compare of your story to the guide. I had Fish friends small boat and monster hunting. Never had to go to K9.

    1. Amir Abdollahi

Thanks for letting us know! I will update the guide with that info. Do you use it on the tree up there at the very top?

    1. Amir Abdollahi

You should only get three chapters when you start the Tall Tale. The stories are randomized though so the guide just lists all the possible stories you could get to cover all the bases.

    1. Amir Abdollahi

Great find! Thanks for sharing your findings with us 🙂 We will get it added to the guide soon.

  1. There is also one for Shipwreck bay, you have to go to one of the outer islands and look at the bow of the ship and the highest point

  2. There is also a plank that goes for Shark bait cove you must go to the middle with the shark statue and line it up, with the chest to the bottom left side of the plank

  3. Just turned in the crown and didn’t get a commendation. If you ever pick up a key but get no notification then try to pick it up again. I just did it solo 🙁

  4. Grog Swillin' Villian

If possible could you also add journal locations to the guides?

Shroudbreaker journal locations: N13, ancient spire, plunder outpost, thieves haven, and shark bait cove.

    1. Amir Abdollahi

Awesome shots 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing. Should help a lot of pirates out there! Would you mind if we added them to the guide?

    1. Amir Abdollahi

Nice! You are rocking it with these Ancient Crown locations 🙂 We keep getting Lone Cove over and over again, haha!

  5. I need an explanation for the Sea of Thieves legendary Monster Hunting storyteller.
The book is pointing downwards, but in the end it is on an island above.

  6. Not having a go at the game, I think the Kraken skeleton is cool, but isn’t a Kraken a squid so it doesn’t have bones.

  7. I got the “fish friends” quest on my first try at this today, however, the island is being haunted by Flameheart. This means there is no way to get my solo sloop close enough to cannon myself onto the pillar. I think they need to add an NPC cannon to the island to make this completable if new content makes the island unaproachable.

  8. why not just say location at once and not have so much named places where to start and stuff… i know its my fault for not reading everything but damn xD… rest is spot on tho
