The Festival of the Damned celebration rages on as pirates around the Sea of Thieves continue to pay tribute to the Ferryman.
To keep the party going, the third week of the Festival of the Damned kicks off with a brand new challenge. The Fate of the Roaring Skies challenge has six new goals to complete. Completing these goals will unlock one more Soulflame cosmetic for your expanding Soulflame collection!
The first two challenges are still active and their goals can still be completed. You’ll want to complete each challenge if you are looking to acquire every Soulflame cosmetic. If you still need to work on the first challenge, be sure to check out our guide here! You can find the second challenge guide here.
If you are all caught up then you are more than ready to conquer Larinna’s next challenge. Continue on and discover what the next six goals are and how to achieve them!
While you will easily be able to find how to complete each goal below, we also have this helpful video guide. If you prefer a step by step visual walkthrough, then this video is for you!

Fate of the Roaring Skies
You will be dodging fiery boulders falling from the sky during the third week of the Festival of the Damned. The Shadows of Fate have moved into The Devil’s Roar!
The goals in the Fate of the Roaring Skies challenge will have you in this one region slaying Shadows of Fate, lighting beacons, catching yourself on fire and hunting down enemy pirates!
The Heat of Battle
Using any means at your disposal, you or your crew must set 5 skeletons on fire.
Thanks to all the wonderful tools in the Sea of Thieves there are multiple ways you can set fire to skeletons.
Ashen Winds Skull
One option is to use an Ashen Winds Skull that can be obtained after killing a mighty Ashen Lord. The Ashen Winds Skull is a weapon in Sea of Thieves that can be used as a flamethrower.
Activating the Ashen Winds Skull will cause a column of fire to spew out of its mouth lighting anything in its path ablaze. Using the Ashen Winds Skull against any skeleton in the Sea of Thieves will light it on fire and advance your progress on this goal.

Firebombs
A much simpler option is to use Firebombs. Firebombs are Throwable fire grenades that can be found in resource barrels across the Sea of Thieves. If you don’t feel like resource hunting, your ship already comes stocked with several.
Once you have a group of skeletons you will be lighting on fire, open your Item Radial, select Throwables and then select your Firebombs.
To conserve your Firebombs, it would be efficient to get a group of skeletons together and throw a Firebomb in the middle of them.
Though setting fire to several at once is not necessary, it will help you save your Firebombs for other purposes.
If you can’t find more than one at a time that is fine. Just throw your Firebomb at the lone skeleton to light it on fire.

Where can I find some skeletons?
Now that you have means to set skeletons on fire, it’s time to find some skeletons. Skeletons can be found on almost any island in the Sea of Thieves that isn’t an Outpost.
You can set any skeleton on fire for it to count towards this goal. They can be random skeletons found while exploring islands, Order of Souls skeletons from a voyage, Shadows of Fate skeletons at the Fort of the Damned or even ambient Ashen Key Masters found on random islands.
You could even take on an active Skeleton Fort to find bunches of skeletons at once.
No matter where you find your skeletons, each skeleton you set on fire with either a Firebomb or Ashen Winds Skull will count towards this goal.

Only Trying to Help
Defeat a player from another crew and send them to the Ferry of the Damned.
You and your crew are not the only pirates on the Sea of Thieves. In Adventure Mode you’ll want to find another crew and dispatch of one of its members.
If they die by your weapon and are not revived they will be sent to the Ferry of the Damned. Once on the Ferry you will have completed this goal.
If you are having trouble finding another crew looking to fight, you might want to raise your Reaper’s Emissary Flag or find a Reaper’s Chest to hold on your boat. Both of these options will signal to every pirate on the Sea of Thieves that you are looking for a fight!
Killing an enemy crew member in Arena will not count as pirates to not make their way to the Ferry of the Damned upon death.

A Fateful Encounter
Wherever they may lurk, you or your crew must defeat 10 red or pink Shadows of Fate.
Where can you find and defeat 10 red or pink Shadows of Fate? Larinna is offering one simple and easy way that you might be interested in.
While doing the Fate of the Damned voyage, In Pursuit of Prowling, Devilish Shadows of Fate, you will come across both red and pink Shadows of Fate skeletons. The voyage is free and you can easily complete it over and over again.
Each time you do the voyage you will have the chance to defeat at least three to five of each type of Shadows of Fate skeleton.
If you are looking for a challenge, you can always activate a Fort of the Damned. Raiding the Fort of the Damned will offer plenty of opportunities to kill red and pink Shadows of Fate
Whether you go for the quieter voyage or take on a fort, killing Shadows of Fate from either will help you complete this goal.

Roaring Flames
You or your crew must light all beacons throughout The Devil’s Roar with a red or pink flame.
There are a total of three beacons you will need to light. Make sure when you find them you use a red or pink Flame of Fate. Using a different color or your default flame will not count for this goal.
If this is your first time hunting down beacon locations, be sure to check out our written guide here& detailing where to find each beacon. We originally wrote it for the first ever Festival of the Damned, but it works just as well for this year’s celebration. It will tell you which islands they are on and how exactly to reach them.

Collect both a red and pink flame from the Well of Fates.
Collecting a flame from the Well of Fates requires a trip to the Ferry of the Damned. You must light your lantern with the correct color from the Well of Fates on the Ferry. Collecting the color you are looking for by any other way will not count towards this challenge.
Red Flame
To get the red Flame of Fate you must die from fire. Before Firebombs this would mean you had to sail on over to the Devil’s Roar and hope to be set on fire from falling volcanic rock. Now a days it is much easier to collect the red Flame of Fate.
Go to your ship’s Cannonball Resource barrel and grab a Firebomb. Firebombs by themselves will only damage a third of your full health bar so you’ll want to inflict some damage on yourself before throwing the Firebomb at your feet.
Fall off the crow’s nest ladder a few times until your health bar is at about 30% full. Look down at your feet, equip a Firebomb from your Throwables in the Item Radial and throw it at the ground. You will light on fire and quickly die from the flame.
Pink Flame
To get the pink Flame of Fate you must die from an enemy pirate. Sail the Sea of Thieves looking for another pirate crew. Once you find them you must die from one of the enemy crew members.
Make sure that you are not revived by a friendly crew member as you need to make it to the Ferry of the Damned to collect the flame.
If you are having trouble finding another crew to battle, you might want to raise your Reaper’s Emissary Flag or find a Reaper’s Chest to hold on your boat. Both of these options will signal to every pirate on the Sea of Thieves that you are looking for a fight!

Have all of your ship’s lanterns lit with a mix of red and pink Flames of Fate.
As you collect the red and pink Flames of Fate while doing the In Pursuit of Prowling, Devilish Shadows of Fate voyage you’ll want to light the lanterns on your ship. All lanterns must be lit with either a red or pink flame. It doesn’t matter how evenly they are spread across your ship. You can have all red and one pink and the challenge will complete.

You have now completed the third week’s Festival of the Damned challenge! If you have been following along you will now have four of the Soulflame weapon cosmetics unlocked. Head to your Weapon Box and equip your glowing new cosmetics!
We will have the final challenge guide published as soon as each unlocks next week.
