A hunt is afoot! However, unlike the first Mystery, the second Sea of Thieves Mystery, The Horader’s Hunt, will have you uncover an epic treasure instead of an elusive killer.
To find the treasure, pirates must solve a mix of out-of-game puzzles and in-game Voyages. The first pirates to reach the end and complete The Hoarder’s Hunt will win a one-of-a-kind prize of a replica Gold Hoarder skull!
How does the Mystery work?
The Mystery comprises four Stages, each requiring you to find clues outside the game to unlock an in-game Voyage. The clues will ultimately lead to a keyword you can submit on the official Sea of Thieves website. If you find the correct keyword, you will unlock the in-game Voyage you can collect from Larinna. Completing the Voyage will complete that part of the Mystery, allowing you to work on the next Stage when it unlocks the following week.
The four Stages are entitled Skin of Gold, A Feathered Fortune, Portrait of Plunder, and The Crowning Glory.
Once pirates have reached the fourth and final Stage, they must race to find a unique in-game golden key! This key is required to complete the Mystery. The first pirate to complete The Hoarder’s Hunt wins the grand prize!
How long is The Hoarder's Hunt Mystery?
The Hunter’s Hoarder Mystery takes place over six weeks from May 11th to June 22nd.
The Hoarder's Hunt Rewards
As mentioned, first place will win the grand prize of the Gold Hoarder’s skull! In addition, the winner can share the skull’s accompanying gold keys with the crewmates who sailed along the first-place winner along the way!
However, the legendary Gold Hoarder’s skull isn’t the only prize up for grabs! Ten runner-ups will receive exclusive silver keys, and 100 third-place pirates will receive Reaper’s Mark medallions.
There are also in-game Titles, Trinkets, and gold rewards to collect pirates who aren’t as quick to complete the Mystery and qualify for the physical prizes.
Stage 1: Skin of Gold
Stage 1 is live, and the first Puzzle is available for everyone to solve! A cryptic letter opened by the Gold Hoarders contains the clues you must use to find a keyword hidden online. Finding and submitting that keyword on the official Sea of Thieves website will unlock an in-game Voyage.
