So, you’ve completed Puzzle 3 and are ready for the next part of the Portrait of Plunder stage of the Mystery: The Hunt for the Sterling Silver Key voyage! The Hunt for the Sterling Silver Key is a time-limited, multi-chapter voyage that will have you sailing through The Wilds, solving riddles from a Mysterious Journal.
Like the previous two Silver Key voyages, you must solve the riddles to complete the voyage. If you are successful, you will find the Sterling Silver Key, unlock the Bullion Crown Trinket, and finish the third stage of The Hoarder’s Hunt Mystery!
The Hunt for the Sterling Silver Key Voyage: Step by Step
Step 1: Claim the Voyage from Larinna
After completing the Portrait of Plunder Puzzle and submitting the correct keyword to the official Sea of Thieves website, you can claim The Hunt for the Sterling Silver Key Voyage from Larinna. You can find Larinna at any active Outpost across the Sea of Thieves.
Once you find her, speak with her and browse her stock. Then, choose The Hunt for the Sterling Silver Key and purchase it for 0 Gold. With the voyage in your inventory, you are ready to embark on this mysterious voyage!
You can purchase this voyage as many times as you like throughout the Mystery, so don’t worry if you need to try it more than once.

Step 2: Start Voyage from Captain's Table
Head to your ship’s Captain’s Table and propose the voyage. You’ll receive a Mysterious Treasure Map in your Quest Radial as soon you vote to start it.
Open up your Quest Radial and select the map. It will be an X Marks the Spot map for an island nearby with one X. Once you figure out which island the map is for, sail over to the island to dig at the X!
Step 3: Sail to X Marks the Spot island
Once on the island, head to the area with the X and dig. You’ll need to be precise to find the exact spot!
When you’ve dug in the correct spot, you’ll uncover a Mysterious Journal. You will add it to your Quest Radial as soon as you pick it up. Open up the Mysterious Journal and read through the pages. You’ll see you have a riddle to solve!
Turn to pages five and six in the Mysterious Journal to start deciphering the riddle. First, as the journal suggests, go to your Map Table and zoom out until you can no longer see the names of islands. Then, place your cursor around the map coordinates M13. From here, scan up, and you will find Old Faithful Isle to the NORTH and in the MIDDLE. Now that you have your island, set sail for Old Faithful Isle!

Step 4: Sail to Old Faithful Isle
You’ll want to approach Old Faithful Isle from the island’s South beach near the wooden buoy. Once on the beach, walk North into the stone tunnel. You’ll come to a fork with one path leading left to the West and one way leading right to the East.
Head right to the East, and you’ll see a pulley tied to a cage. Use the pulley to lower the cage, get in it, and ride it to the top. Once you’ve reached the top, get out and climb up the nearby ladder.
After climbing up the ladder, look out to the West, and you’ll see a broken bridge making an ‘X.’ Head on over and drop down. As the journal suggests, ensure you have full health so you don’t die!

You’ll drop down onto a rope and two wood planks forming another ‘X.’ Dig by the wood planks to find some Missing Pages.

Missing Pages on Old Faithful Isle
Open up your Mysterious Journal and flip to the Missing Pages. The pages will direct you down to the tower on the East beach of Old Faithful Isle. Once in the tower, you’ll find a cannon pointing East toward Black Sand Atoll, your next island!

Step 5: Sail to Black Sand Atoll
Once on Black Sand Atoll, jump onto the main rock structure on the island’s East side. The rocks you are standing on point you to the next island, Marauder’s Arch.

Step 6: Sail to Marauder's Arch
Once on Marauder’s Arch, walk up the arch to the giant beacon in the middle. Once you reach the beacon, turn around and face your back to it. Now, facing South by South East, equip your Spyglass and scan past the rocks that look like fins and the Shrine of Hungering to spot another cross: the giant rock formations on Galleon’s Grave Outpost.
With your island found, head to Galleon’s Grave Outpost!
Step 7: Sail to Galleon's Grave Outpost
Park your ship on the North side of Galleon’s Grave Outpost near the Sovereigns. Once on the Outpost, walk along the North East beach and look for large Kraken bones. You’ll find a skeleton crushed beneath one.
Dig by the skeleton to find more Missing Pages. You will add them to your Mysterious Journal as soon as you pick them up.

Missing Pages on Galleon’s Grave Outpost
As before, you’ll use these new missing pages to find your next island.
Flip to the start of the new Missing Pages, and you’ll read about a Kraken’s CHICKEN SKULL above a door. This passage refers to the Kraken’s Skull above the Tavern entrance on Galleon’s Grave Outpost.
Walk over to the Tavern entrance and face out towards the direction the Skull is facing. You should see the gap, the large stone archway you can use for Tall Tales. You won’t be using it to travel to the Sea of the Damned, but you will sail through it to reach Skull Keep, your next island on the other side of the arch!
Step 8: Sail to Skull Keep
Once on Skull Keep, head outside to the front of the fortress. You’ll see two cages with skeletons hanging on either side of the ramps up to the entrance.
Walk below the open cage, the one further South, and face the direction the skeleton is facing. You should be looking out to the East toward Tri-Rock Isle, your next island!

Step 9: Sail to Tri-Rock Isle
Once on Tri-Rock Isle, head to the South East tip of the island. You will find two Resource Barrels there, one with a candle on top of it and another without. Stand behind the Resource Barrels, equip your Spyglass, and look between them facing South East. If you are in the correct spot, you will see your next destination, Liar’s Backbone!

Step 10: Sail to Liar's Backbone
Once you’ve reached Liar’s Backbone, walk up the hill to the West toward Stitcher Jim’s Hideout. You’ll find a broken pot with a lit flame across from the lever that opens the Hideout. As the pages suggest, you want to take note of the open side of the pot, which faces South towards Kraken’s Fall, your final island!
Step 11: Sail to Kraken's Fall
Park your ship on the North side of Kraken’s Fall. Then, hop onto the beach and walk along the North West side. You’ll come across a complete Kraken Skeleton, including its ribs and Skull!

Walk through the ribs and exit the Kraken’s mouth to see another Kraken skeleton pierced by a ship. Next to the skewered Kraken skeleton are some rocks with a mast covered in rope. Climb up the shipwreck to stand on the mast and walk to the edge of it. Face inland, and you will spot two torches on a path leading up to the island’s top.

Hop off the mast and make your way up the path. You will come to a fork with two branching paths. As the pages suggest, head right and be on the lookout for a lantern on your right tucked into some rocks. The lantern is your dig spot. Dig in front of the lantern to find the chest once you find the lantern.
As soon as you dig up the chest, you will complete the voyage and complete the third stage of the Mystery!
Make sure to sell the key to the Gold Hoarders for extra gold!

I wanted to say thanks very much, you and everyone else have been very helpful to me so far. I understand that next week the new map will be every one for themselves. Good luck to all and thanks again, it was fun.
Just finished it today, October 22, 2023. The asset still exists, and the voyage was never taken from my inventory months ago so, that was a thing I wasted hours on again.
