A new friendly face has just arrived in the Sea of Thieves: Umbra! Although it seems she has seen the Sea of Thieves before—and she may or may not have sailed through the shroud against her will—she is embracing the opportunity.
Aye, Umbra has spent her life traveling far and wide, finding and recording tales of greatness! She has even scrawled a few tales across her skin.
Yet, nowhere she’s been compares to the Sea of Thieves: a place teeming with an endless supply of legendary stories. Just as we pirates are raising a grog to one epic adventure, we hear tell of another!
So, Umbra has set up camp on Sanctuary Outpost to begin documenting piratical deeds.
Ah, but recording Legends of the Seas does not simply mean writing down everything you hear in a tavern. No, Umbra likes to verify these rumors with her own eyes. Alas, with so many rumors swirling about, she’d never get around to recording these deeds, if she had to verify them all herself.
This is where we come in, savvy?
From rumors and tavern talk, Umbra has compiled a collection of clues—categorized with similar adventures, feats, and deeds. These clues will take you all over the Sea of Thieves. Thus, we thought it best to categorize the destinations by region.
Originally, we thought we could include them all in one grand article. Well, with fifty destinations, it soon became untenably long—we didn’t think anyone would fancy scrolling through several regions to find their destination.
So, we’ve separated out each of your three main regions—The Wilds, The Ancient Isles, and The Shores of Plenty. In this article, we cover the Devil’s Roar, the Ferry of the Damned, and the cosmetic player immortalizations.
Together, these guides will walk you through how to unlock all fifty Legends of the Sea commendations. Along with the expected doubloons for achieving each commendation, you will also unlock new purchasable tattoos that can be found in Umbra’s shop!
Better yet—along the way, you will unravel the secrets of your fellow legendary pirates and their extraordinary exploits!
The Shores of Plenty
The Ancient Isles
The Wilds
The Devil’s Roar
Only one legend has made their mark in the treacherous Devil’s Roar. Head to Morrow’s Peak Outpost to find it!
Delicious Delivery
They say that an unusual merchant delivery ended up on the docks at Morrow’s Peak.
The story behind “Delicious Delivery”
This package is part of a correspondence between caring pirates from different regions.
Becoming friends despite living far apart, they sent this care package of confectionary – but the content were scoffed long ago.
Where to find “Delicious Delivery”
Island: Morrow’s Peak Outpost
Specifics: On the West dock just to the right of the Merchant Alliance you will find a package.
See where this legend lies on your map: Delicious DeliveryFerry of the Damned
Only one pirate has been famous enough to be immortalized on the Ferry of the Damned!
Hallowed Ground
Stories abound of a pirate brazen enough to deface even the Ferry of the Damned!
The story behind “Hallowed Ground”
When the Sea of Thieves as we know it was still taking shape, it is believed that ‘Hallower MCMLXXX’ was the first pirate to visit the Ferry.
That rumor is unconfirmed…but they certainly left their mark. Umbra wonders what punishment the Ferryman bestowed for this defacement…
Where to find “Hallowed Ground”
Island: Ferry of the Damned
Specifics: On the right pillar of the exit on the Ferry of the Damned you will find Hallower’s name etched into it.

Time to play dress up! For each of these commendations, you will need to don a particular item from either your Vanity Chest or Clothing Chest.
Happily, if you do not have your ship handy, Umbra has a Vanity Chest and Clothing Chest you can use. However, she does not sell the items you’ll need. So, be sure you own these items already—or purchase them at a nearby outpost—before you head over to Umbra.
After you’ve decked yourself in these immortalization cosmetics, you will need to talk to Umbra and select the option “I have something to show you!”
You can do these one at a time, or really look the part and do them all at once!
A Hairy Legacy
The Story Behind “A Hairy Legacy”
That beard reminds me of the legend of Beardageddon! It’s most certainly modeled after his mighty chin.
The stories say that he fought the Hungering One alone, in only his underwear! Sounds like madness.
Better yet, some accounts suggest that he had a chicken on board which survived to tell the tale…
What to wear for “A Hairy Legacy”:
For this commendation, you will need to sport a bit of facial hair. You’ll be looking for one that is well-trimmed and rather full called the “Legacy Beard.”
If you haven’t purchased it yet, not to worry. It will only cost you 150 Gold Coins. You could stumble upon loot worth that amount just washed up on a beach.
Purply Pretty
The Story Behind “Purply Pretty”
That radiant purple! That’s the same color used by Nerdy Netty, one of the loveliest pirates ever known.
It’s really quite something. No wonder she became famous – she’s very kind… and very hard to miss…
What to Wear for “Purply Pretty”
Time for a new do! For this commendation, you’ll be looking for the Amythest Angel hair dye—a bright purple hue that perfectly matches its namesake.
This one is a bit pricier: 1,995 Gold Coins. Ah, but just collecting a few items at barrels of plenty or a shipwreck, will line your pockets once more.
Charitable Pirating
The Story Behind “Charitable Pirating”
What a stunning, sea-inspired tone you wear. Just like Daggers McTimbers!
She’s quite the generous pirate. She once sailed for 24 hours straight, gaining gold donations from all she passed, to give to pirates in need!
You certainly can’t miss her colorful style when she comes sailing along…
What to Wear for “Charitable Pirating”
Ah, those iconic Sea of Thieves colors! The purples and teals on that original controller look just as pretty on your pirate’s grubby face. You’ll be looking for the makeup titled, “Stream Sailor.”
If you’ve not yet purchased these hues, they will only set you back 450 Gold Coins. That’s easy enough to scrounge up.
Pirate Leg End
The Story Behind “Pirate Leg End”
That leg reminds me of the legendary Peg Leg Perez! Now that pirate gets into some scrapes.
His tale is well known – a pirate who came to these seas long ago, when the Outposts still had fresh paint!
He has a fanatical love for rare things – a collector and explorer with a heart for adventure. Watch out for that one…
What to Wear for “Pirate Leg End”
As the name suggests, you’ll be looking for the end of a leg—in other words, a Pegleg. More specifically, you’ll need to equip the Sea Dog Pegleg.
At 4,050 Gold Coins, this has a heftier price tag. Still, fight one Skeleton Ship, and you’ll likely forget the coin was ever gone.
