A new little camp has popped up on Lagoon of Whispers, and in it you will find the chronicler of Pirate Legends: Umbra!

Aye, a historian—and an adventurer in her own right—Umbra chases tales of greatness throughout the world. Ah, but through the Devil’s Shroud, in the Sea of Thieves, so many stories abound that Umbra has asked our help in verifying these tavern tales.

Umbra has compiled a collection of clues—categorized with similar adventures, feats, and deeds. Each will lead you to an in-game player immortalization!

To help you make the most of your time at sea, we’ve recategorized these player immortalizations by region.

Ah, and when it comes to finding little easter eggs, the Shores of Plenty are plentiful indeed! This region boasts 24 of the 50 total Legends of the Sea locations and their respective commendations! This guide begins on Sanctuary Outpost, continues on in the North then slowly wends it way further South.

Buckets of Fun

Sanctuary Outpost honors a tireless worker, according to Umbra’s rumors.

The story behind “Buckets of Fun”

Carson Iz Pro was engraved on this bucket by their grateful crew, after bailing enough water to fill two ships!

Where to find “Buckets of Fun”

Island: Sanctuary Outpost

Specifics: Head to the Shipwright found on the docks at North East side of the Outpost. Attached to one of the four posts of the Shipwright structure is a bucket with a name engraved on it. This marks the legendary pirate who never tired while bucketing water from their ship.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil

On Sanctuary Outpost, this flag was raised whenever a pirate stepped out of line.

The flag of triheadedmonkey, who would always call out pirates for breaking the Pirate Code. Nobody got away with shenanigans on his watch!

Specifics: In the tavern located at the center of the Outpost will be a flag with three monkey heads painted on it laying against the wall near the fireplace.

Still Life

Sanctuary Outpost is a beautiful place. Rumor has it the tavern hosts some legendary art.

The story behind “Still Life”

Signed simply ‘Captain B.’, this stunning artwork was created by a pirate with a true eye for beauty. Don’t be surprised if they ask you to pose for a portrait!

Specifics: Look for the portrait hanging on the South wall of the tavern found in the center of the island.

Not Just For Sweeping

There must be a story behind this unusual tavern sign on Sanctuary Outpost.

The story behind “Not Just For Sweeping”

Umbra heard rumors of a pirate called Clumsy George, who fought off a kraken with only a broom!

At least, that’s the story he told everyone. He told it so often, they named the tavern after him!

Specifics: The tavern sign immortalizing this legend is what you seek. You can find it above the tavern entrance located at the center of the island.

Going Bananas

Word tells of an unusual barrel on Sanctuary Outpost, near the water tower.

The story behind “Not Just For Sweeping”

Freakydusty’s personal banana barrel, always packed with yellow ambrosia. They became famous for hoarding their bananas like gold.

Island: Sanctuary Outpost

Specifics: You will find this special banana barrel on the North side of the island near the water tower. Interact with it to learn more about this legendary pirate who was a little to fixated on bananas!

One Cross Pirate

Rumor says that there’s a lot of undelivered mail left in some rubble on Sanctuary Outpost.

The story behind “One Cross Pirate”

Capta1n Cross and his fellow pirate pioneers never received these important letters. Clearly, the Sea of Thieves is in dire need of a postal service.

Specifics: In an old wooden settlement to the South East of the Outpost you will find a bag full of letters.

Pirates in Portrait

On Sailor’s Bounty, a set of portraits by a talented pirate await delivery.

The story behind “Pirates in Portrait”

LatchedGlue is famous for her stunning portraits, ideal for decorating a captain’s cabin. She knows how to capture someone’s swashbuckling side!

The portraits here are labelled to be delivered to HealpleaseHeal, T.Skunk and Evulmonkey.

Island: Sailor’s Bounty

Specifics: On the main isle of Sailor’s Bounty you will find a beach camp on the South side. Here is where you will find several painted portraits underneath a wooden shelter.

Legendary Larceny

On Smuggler’s Bay lived a pirate famed for his stolen hoard. He left a mark on the Southwest Beach.

The story behind “Legendary Larceny”

The greedy pirate De4th Fire left their mark here.

The hook and the chest is fitting, as Umbra notes that this pirate stole a staggering number of chests when the Sea of Thieves was still young.

In fact, you should go and sell any you’re carrying right now. Just to be safe.

Where to find “Legendary Larceny”

Island: Smuggler’s Bay

Specifics: Head to the inner bay of the island. On the South West side where the grass and rocks start up the hill you will find a rock face with a giant hook, chest and name painted on it.

Through the Eyes of a Child

A young cartographer was known to hone their skills at a camp on Smuggler’s Bay.

The story behind “Through the Eyes of a Child”

This crumpled doodle was drawn by a pirate’s five-year-old-son, mapping his favorite island. No doubt he will grow up to be a fine cartographer.

Specifics: Just to the West of the cave entrance found in the center of the island is a camp. You can find a drawing of the island laying on a bench in the middle of the camp.

Bound by a Book

On Smuggler’s Bay, in a dark cave, a talented pair left one of their legendary creations.

The story behind “Bound by a Book”

Xbox Addict may be an unusual pirate name, but this truly legendary swashbuckler reached a level of admiration and honor that few dream of.

With help from Geordie Tommy, the two crafted this beautiful book to show off their talents. They say it once contained an incredible surprise.

Island: Smuggler’s Bay

Specifics: Head inside the cave in the center of the island. At the back of the cave will be a beautifully handcrafted book surrounded by candles that was created by two grand pirates.

Wide of the Mark

A pirate with dubious aim left an unmarked target atop Smuggler’s Bay.

The story behind “Wide of the Mark”

o COMM4NDO o is carved into this bullet-ridden wall. Not so many bullets hit the target underneath, though. Practice makes a perfect pirate!

Where to find “Wide of the Mark”

Island: Smuggler’s Bay

Specifics: Head to the top of the island on the highest ridge. On the North West side of this ridge you will find a camp along with a shooting target laying against some wooden boards.

Run Aground

On Salty Sands, a moment when shark triumphed over pirate was captured in art.

The story behind “Run Aground”

This art depicts the incredible moment when the bold Captain Ash Bacon and her crew harpooned their ship to a Megalodon.

The chase was fast, epic and impressive – until the shark ditched Ash Bacon by running her Galleon aground and fleeting the scene!

Island: Salty Sands

Specifics: On the Southern side of Salty Sands you will find a boulder in the sand with a rock painting of a boat harpooning a giant shark. This is the legendary mark you seek.

Missing, Presumed Pirating

Near the central rock of Lone Cove, a poster remains for a missing pirate.

Captain Jaq was a very popular pirate, a lady with the gift of charisma and a penchant for friendly discourse.

According to notes of concern collected by Umbra, Jaq took a small hiatus from the seas and her friends missed her terribly.

Specifics: Just South West of the large central rock on the island will be a wooden awning. Attached to this wooden structure will be a missing poster for Captain Jaq.

A pirate once made quite the bang over at Port Merrick, somewhere near to the Order of Souls…

The story behind “May Contain Boom”

~Pirate Legend Jackie’s Boombox~

One of the first pirates to make a name for herself on the Seas, Umbra heard that Jackie took this barrel everywhere.

That was perhaps a mistake, but nobody could convince her to leave behind her ‘boombox’.

Island: Port Merrick

Specifics: Just below the Order of Souls building by the water is where you will find this legendary mark. Look for the busted remains of a gunpowder barrel and inspect it.

Pirate Port Pals

Two talkative pirates left their tankards at a port town, a perfect spot to chat.

The story behind “Pirate Port Pals”

These tankards bear the names ‘Abstractacas’ and ‘Paladin Topaz’, friends who loved to share a drink and a chat.

They became famed for announcing news and rumors about the Sea of Thieves for all pirates to hear.

Island: Port Merrick

Specifics: Just in front of the tavern on the Port will be several benches. On one of the benches you will find two tankards with names engraved on them.

At Port Merrick, filling your crew is easy when the pirates advertise in the tavern.

This pirate had the bright idea of writing out all their skills and pirating history, to ensure they found gainful employment with future crews.

It’s a good job that the law doesn’t come to the Sea of Thieves…

Points of Contention

Over at Port Merrick, Umbra heard of a pirate who loved to write down their thoughts.

The story behind “Points of Contention”

According to Umbra’s notes, Daimyo DoriMa loved nothing more than to list all the things that could be be improved around the Sea of Thieves.

Maybe a salty pirate took exception to their critique?!

Island: Port Merrick

Specifics: On the South East side of the Port is a large water tower and lighthouse. Leaning against the water tower you will find the legendary pirate in skeleton form still holding their paper and quill.

Remembering the Fallen

A fallen hero gazes down upon the thriving town that is his legacy.

The story behind “Remembering the Fallen”

Here stands Merrick, who fought valiantly to save Golden Sands Outpost from ruin. Port Merrick was constructed to honour his memory and the pirates who joined in his struggle.

Specifics: On the North side of the Tavern is a giant statue of Merrick. Interact with the plaque on the statue to read about this legendary pirate.

Helping Hands

Five names are scratched into a rock on Cannon Cove – some of the earliest pirates to arrive here.

Umbra believes the five names scratched here were among the first pirates to come to the Sea of Thieves – after the Pirate Lord’s crew, of course.

Island: Cannon Cove

Specifics: From the dock on the island, walk just South East into a large rock face. This rock will have five names of some of the earliest pirates to sail the Sea of Thieves etched into it.

Fool’s Gold

On Cannon Cove, a pirate once thought outside the barrel when it came to making money.

The story behind “Fool’s Gold”

Legend has it that The Aaron Leigh minted his own coins as a tribute to the architects of the seas.

He sailed across the world to hand-deliver them, though one somehow ended up here.

Island: Cannon Cove

Specifics: Inside the large cave at the center of the island is where this Legend of the Sea’s story can be learned. Inspect the dagger and coin on top of a resource barrel found in the cave.

Rumors speak of an odd book left at The Reaper’s Hideout…could be a dangerous campsite to visit.

Specifics: On top of the center hill of Wanderer’s Refuge is an old settlement. Attached to the wooden remains of one of these structures is a wanted poster.

They say a pirate met his fate on the shores of Mermaid’s Hideaway.

The story behind “Sleeping with the Fishes”

This pirate scratched their name – ArchAngle Aeon – into the rock. Judging by the fish bones, they swam a very long way to reach this shore.

Specifics: On the East beach you will find a skeleton grasping at rocks buried in the sand. Inspect this poor soul to learn of their legendary swim.

    yet would be nice for the website to change
