The Pirate Lord and Captain Flameheart have taken their battle into the open sea. To help win the war, they now call upon every pirate to pledge their Allegiance and fight in their name.
While earning gold and bragging rights is a good enough reason to join either Faction, unlocking rewards is even better. Captain Flameheart has one in particular that is sure to sway a few pirates to his side, the Skeleton Curse!
The Skeleton Curse
To get the Skeleton Curse, you must reach a Reputation of 75 with the Reaper’s Bones and an Allegiance of 100 with the Servants of the Flame. Then, enter The Reaper’s Lair and take part in the Ritual of the Flame ceremony.
Once inside the lair, head down to the lowest chamber filled with golden tree sap and a giant tree. Interact with the prompt in the middle of the room to kneel and begin the Ritual of the Flame.
During the Ritual of the Flame, you will drink from Flameheart’s cursed chalice and transform into a skeleton. The Skeleton Curse will automatically be added to your Vanity Chest to equip and unequip as you please.
The Skeleton Curse is not time-limited, so you don’t need to worry about how fast you can level up your Allegiance.
Skeleton Curse Emotes
The Skeleton Curse comes with eight curse-exclusive emotes you can perform when wearing the curse.
The Skeleton Curse emotes include:
- Skeleton Dance
- Skeleton Cheer
- Skeleton Clap
- Skeleton Point
- Skeleton Sit
- Skeleton Sleep
- Skeleton Wave
- Skeleton Make Friends
How to reach Allegiance of 100
You can earn Allegiance in a couple of ways. The first way is to join the Servants of the Flame Faction and battle other ships representing the Guardians of Fortune. Winning the match will reward you with Allegiance, while losing will reward you much less.
The second way of earning Allegiance is by cashing out your Faction Stash Grade. The higher your Faction Stash Grade, the more Allegiance you’ll make. You can raise your Faction Stash Grade by collecting large amounts of treasure on your ship while representing the Servants of the Flame. Your Faction Stash Grade will increase with each piece of treasure you place onboard. The higher the value, the more it will progress. After you have raised your Faction Stash Grade to the level you want, you can vote to end fighting for the Servants of the Flame at any Outpost. Leaving the Faction will reward you a tiny amount of Allegiance for each Faction Stash Grade you reached. Turning in your Faction Stash Grade is the slowest way to earn Allegiance.
You can also earn more Allegiance by building your Streak, defeating rival ships with a high Streak, and defeating other ships with a high Faction Stash Grade.

How to enter The Reaper's Lair
To enter The Reaper’s Lair, you’ll need to reach a Reputation of 75 with the Reaper’s Bones and an Allegiance of 100 with the Servants of the Flame. Once you have reached those levels, speak with the Servant of the Flame. He will give you a shanty that you can use to open The Reaper’s Lair.
With the shanty acquired, stand on the wooden platform inside The Reaper’s Hideout and equip any instrument. Then, start playing music, and the shanty the Servant gave you will play and lower the wooden platform down into The Reaper’s Lair.
