How to do the Memoirs of a Legend, Vol. I Commendation

One of the many commendations you can complete during The Journey to Mêlée Island Tall Tale is the ‘Memoirs of a Legend, Vol. I’ commendation. You can start working on the commendation once you arrive at Mêlée Island during this Tall Tale.

If you are just looking to complete ‘Memoirs of a Legend, Vol. I’ and take in the view at all ten memoir spots, your first step is to make your way to Mêlée Island! Each memoir spot is marked with an inkwell, so you can use those as a hint if you are hunting for them without the guide.

Memoir Spot #1

You can find the first memoir spot inside Scumm Bar. From the dock, make your way to Scumm Bar and head inside. Head towards the back of the bar, and you will see three pirates sitting side by side at a long table. Across from them is an inkwell on a barrel and a square stool. Sit on the square stool to take in the view at this memoir spot.

Memoir Spot #2

Stand up from the first memoir spot and walk out of the bar. You will immediately see a docked rowboat in front of you as you exit. Walk to the other side of the rowboat, and you’ll find an inkwell on a crate and a barrel. Sit on the barrel to take in the view at this memoir spot.

Memoir Spot #3

Stand up from the second memoir spot by the rowboat, turn left to the South, and walk over to the inkwell by the empty crates. Next to the empty crates is a closed crate you can sit on. Sit on this closed crate to take in the view at this memoir spot.

Memoir Spot #4

Stand up from the third memoir spot and walk to the Scumm Bar. Facing the bar’s entrance, turn right and walk East under the archway to Low Street. Once you reach Low Street, you will see the Citizen of Mêlée standing alone at a corner selling several items.

Across from Citizen is an inkwell and several barrels. Sit on the intact barrel to take in the view of this memoir spot.

Memoir Spot #5

Stand up from the fourth memoir spot and walk through the arch under the Clock Tower. You will immediately come across the General Store to your right. Head inside the store and walk to the corner of the room with the inkwell, mannequin, and mirror. Take a seat on the stool to take in the view of this memoir spot.

Memoir Spot #6

Stand up from the fifth memoir spot and walk out of the store. Turn right and continue up High Street. Turn right again and head into the Alley between the store and the Church. At the end of the Alley, you will find Walt and several poodles. Wait for the cutscene to end and then sit on the barrel next to the inkwell and kennel to take in the view of this memoir spot.

Memoir Spot #7

Stand up from the sixth memoir spot and walk back to High Street. Turn right and walk past the Church to the Jail. Head inside the Jail and walk back to the corner with the inkwell and ladder. Sit on the crate between the inkwell and ladder to take in the view of this memoir spot.

Memoir Spot #8

You must purchase the Chef’s Uniform and steal the Clock Tower Key before reaching this memoir spot. If you need any help with those tasks, check out our guide for purchasing the Chef’s Uniform here and our guide for stealing the Clock Tower Key here.

Once you have unlocked the door to the Clock Tower, head up the stairs and take a left by jumping over the barrels and crates when you come to the fork.

Keep walking North and jump onto the roof of the building near the scaffolding. Walk behind the tall building with the scaffolding North East and climb onto the triangle roof of the building directly across from the Church. Near the edge, you will see a prompt to sit. Sit down to take in the view at this memoir spot.

Memoir Spot #9

Before reaching this memoir spot, you must purchase the Chef’s Uniform, repair the Clock Tower, and construct Murray a new body. If you need any help with those tasks, check out our guide for the Tall Tale, which will grant you access to the Governor’s Mansion.

Once you can access the Governor’s Mansion, walk through the giant stone arch and toward the front doors. Before you reach the mansion, you will see an inkwell next to the crates to your left. Sit down on the intact crate to take in the view at this memoir spot.

Memoir Spot #10

Before reaching this memoir spot, you must purchase the Chef’s Uniform, repair the Clock Tower, and construct Murray a new body. If you need any help with those tasks, check out our guide for the Tall Tale, which will grant you access to the Governor’s Mansion.

Stand up from the ninth memoir spot and open the doors to the Governor’s Mansion. Walk inside and see an inkwell on an elegant table next to two chairs to your right. Sit on one of the chairs to take in the view at this memoir spot.
