Jot down yer email, and we’ll be sure to let ye know when there’s something new on the horizon.

The Trading Companies are making a considerable push for Emissaries this Season. The Gold Hoarders are looking to gather even more chests. The Order of Souls wishes more Skeleton Captains slain. All while the Merchant Alliance needs to supply demand at Outposts across the Sea of Thieves.

The Trading Companies know that raising an Emissary Flag increases a pirate’s risk at sea. After all, the Reaper’s Bones will reward other pirates handsomely for those flags.

Hoping to embolden pirates to raise their Emissary Flag, the Outpost Trading Companies have each planned limited-time Challenges, offering pirates the opportunity to earn bonus reputation and a new cosmetic.

The Reaper’s Bones heard tell of these plans, and decided to hatch a little scheme with Challenges of their own. Reaper’s Bones Emissaries who hunt down other Emissaries, sink them, retrieve their flags, and sell them to the Reaper’s Bones will be rewarded with bonus reputation, a new cosmetic, and a title!

Thus, what might have been a fun little gauntlet thrown down for pirates, has been picked up by the Reaper’s Bones, instigating a war throughout the seas: Reapers vs. the World!

Aye, but it’s a war in which us pirates will be rewarded no matter which side we choose—even if we fight on multiple sides.

If that weren’t enough to pique your interest, starting May 1st the Emissary Ledgers will be wiped clean and begin again. Ah, but this time there will be new Emissary Ledger cosmetics to earn for any and all pirates who can climb their way to the top of each leaderboard.

If you are looking to grab every reward this event has to offer, or looking to claim rewards from that leaderboard, you will want to be the hunter and the hunted as you sail the sea with your Emissary Flag raised!

Season Two Emissary Ledger Rewards

What is the Reapers vs. the World Event?

As we mentioned above, the three Outpost Trading Companies each planned a time-limited Challenge.

The Gold Hoarders Challenge will begin this event. Two weeks later, the Order of Souls will initiate their Challenge. Then, two weeks after that, the Merchant Alliance Challenge will commence.

Within each Challenge, you will find six Goals. These Goals will encourage players to sail the seas while flying each Trading Companies’ Emissary Flag. As you complete these Goals, you will steadily earn your way to each Trading Company’s newest reward!

Happily once a Trading Company Challenge has begun, its goals will be unlocked—and they will remain unlocked and available for you to work on—until the end of the Event!

In other words, after the Order of Souls’ Challenge Goals have been unlocked, you will still be able to work on the Gold Hoarder’s Challenge Goals.

What about the Reaper’s Bones Challenges?

All the while, there will be two Reaper’s Bones Challenges that span the entire Event.

These Challenges task players with selling Emissary Flags to the Reaper’s Hideout while waving their own flag as a Reaper’s Bones Emissary. If you complete both Challenges, you will unlock the Reaper’s Bones newest cosmetic and a new title.

The 4 Phases of Reapers vs. the World

The Reapers vs. the World Event is broken down into four phases. The first three phases last two weeks each and are focused on the three main Trading Companies.

Phase 1

Phase 1 focuses on the Gold Hoarders. In the first week of Phase 1, the Gold Hoarder’s Challenge will start. When the second week of Phase 1 beings, pirates will get a reputation boost for Gold Hoarders and for the Reapers who hunt them.

The Gold Hoarders Challenge is called Flags of Fortune, and it features six Gold Hoarder specific goals. We’ll go over each Challenge down below.

Phase 2

Phase 2 focuses on the Order of Souls. In the first week of Phase 2, the Order of Souls Challenge begins. In the second week of Phase 2, both the Order of Souls and the Reapers Bones will offer their Emissaries additional reputation.

The Order of Souls Challenge is called Flags of Fortune, and—naturally—it features six goals specific to the Order of Souls.

Remember: even after Phase 2 has started, you can continue to work on the Phase 1 Gold Hoarder Goals. Once Goals are unlocked, you can continue working on them until the very end of the event.

Phase 3

Phase 3 focuses on the Merchant Alliance. In the first week of Phase 3, the Merchant Alliance Challenge will commence. In the second week of Phase 3, the Merchant Alliance will award bonus reputation to their Emissaries, and the Reaper’s Bones will answer with bonus reputation for their own.

The Merchant Alliance Challenge is called Flags of Finance, featuring six Goals planned with precision by the Merchant Alliance.

Of course, you can also continue to work on all Goals unlocked in Phase 1 and 2.

Phase 4

Phase 4 is an opportunity for every pirate to tackle their remaining goals—whether that means chasing down those Outpost Trading Company lackeys, or taunting the Retreaters Bo- *ahem* we mean, Reaper’s Bones.

How long is the Reapers vs. the World Event?

The Reapers vs. the World event starts on April 22nd and lasts until June 22nd, 2021.

What are the Reapers vs the World rewards?

The cosmetics available to those who earn complete enough Goals are Gold Hoarder’s Lantern, the Order of Souls Spyglass, and the Merchant Alliance Compass. You will also unlock the “Emissary of Excellence Title” Title after completing all 18 Goals.

There are also two Long-Term Challenges with their own rewards. If you can complete the first of these two Challenges, you will earn one of the Disgraced Trading Company hats. The Disgraced Trading Company hat that everyone will unlock will be based on which Trading Company had their Flag sold most to the Reaper’s Bones over the course of the event.

The chosen hat is based on the entire Sea of Thieves community’s actions. If you and your crew sold more Gold Hoarder Emissary Flags than any other Emissary, but the community as a whole sold more Order of Souls, you will receive the Order of Souls hat with everyone else.

Completing the second of the Long-Term Challenges will unlock the Reaper of Fallen Flags Title.

How to unlock the Reapers vs. the World Cosmetics

To unlock the Trading Company cosmetics, you will need to complete Goals from the three Challenges.

Complete 5 Goals to unlock the Gold Hoarder’s Lantern.

Completing 10 Goals will unlock the Order of Souls Spyglass.

Complete 15 Goals to unlock the Merchant Alliance Compass.

And finally, complete all 18 Goals to unlock the Emissary of Excellence Title.

To unlock the Reaper’s Bones cosmetics, you will need to complete the two Long-Term Challenges.

Sell 10 Emissary Flags to the Reaper’s Bones to unlock the Trading Company Themed Hat.

Sell 20 Emissary Flags to the Reaper’s Bones to unlock the Reaper of Fallen Flags Title.

You can track your progress in-game in the Special Events menu. There you will see how many Goals and Challenges you have completed.

Will the rewards be available after the Event?

When this Event is over, the themed Trading Company rewards can be purchased with gold from Outpost stores after completing new requirements.

What are the Reapers vs. the World Challenges?

Long-Term Challenges

There will be two overarching Challenges to hand in Emissary flags to the Reaper’s Bones as a Reaper’s Bones Emissary throughout the event. They will keep note of all Emissary Flags captured and returned to them and provide crews with a cosmetic reward depending on which Trading Company suffered the most significant loss.

If you can sell 10 Emissary Flags, completing the first Long-Term Challenge, you will be eligible to receive one of the following cosmetics at the end of the Event:

  • Disgraced Gold Hoarders Hat,
  • Disgraced Merchant Alliance Hat,
  • or the Disgraced Order of Souls Headband

The Trading Company cosmetic is a themed hat. If the Reaper’s Bones received more Order of Souls flags than any other flag by the time the event ends, everyone will receive an Order of Souls hat.

Selling 20 and completing the second Challenge will award you with an Event exclusive title.

1 thought on “Sea of Thieves: Reapers vs. the World Event Guide”

  1. Hmmmm…retreater’s bones? Could that be the next trading company, a bunch of people who served the reapers but left after discovering the reaper’s ties to flame heart? Or am I over analyzing?
