The Sea of Thieves is marking its seventh anniversary with back-to-back in-game events!

To partake in the festivities, you can first take on Community Goals and search for hidden cakes during a week-long Anniversary Event.

Then, immediately after, you can claim login bonuses, find Pop-Up Plunder, unlock Twitch Drops, take pictures at Picture Walls, and earn boosted Gold, Reputation, Renown, and Allegiance during the Season 15 Community Weekend!

Everyone can participate in the celebration no matter how long you’ve been sailing the sea! So whether you are new to the Sea of Thieves or an old salt who’s been around since the beginning, grab a grog, raise anchor, and set sail to celebrate!

What is the Anniversary and Community Weekend Event?

The Anniversary and Community Weekend Event are two consecutive in-game Events. During the Anniversary Event, you can complete a variety of Community Goals that unlock a range of rewards, hunt for hidden cakes throughout the Sea of Thieves, and embark on Voyages of Luck.

The Anniversary Event will be active from March 14th (11:00 AM UTC) to March 22nd (11:00 AM UTC).

Immediately after the Anniversary Event ends, the Season 15 Community Weekend begins, where you can claim login bonuses, find Pop-Up Plunder, and earn boosted Gold, Reputation, Renown, and Allegiance!

The Community Weekend Event will occur from March 22nd (11:00 AM UTC) to March 24th (11:00 AM UTC).

Community Collaboration

Throughout the Anniversary Event, you and the rest of the community will have seven Community Goals to complete, each inspired by memorable moments from Sea of Thieves’ expansive history. You can expect to take on Sea Forts, defeat Ashen Lords, battle Skeleton Ships, and more throughout the week.

Once the community achieves a Community Goal, every pirate sailing the sea during or setting sail after will receive the reward. Make sure you claim the reward before the Anniversary Event ends!

You can expect to unlock the High-Spirited Spin Emote, Doubloons, Ruby Stinger Rapier, Gold, Golden Sailor Canon Flare, and Ancient Coins.

You will still unlock the reward for a Community Goal if you didn’t contribute, so don’t worry if the community completes one before you sail the sea.

Cake Hunt!

There are seven celebratory cakes hidden throughout the Sea of Thieves! Once you discover one, interact with it to find it. Interacting with all seven will unlock the Seeker of Sweat Treats Title and allow you to work on a mysterious riddle.

You can find the riddle on the official Spongy Secrets page after you’ve found all seven! If you are having trouble solving the riddle, you can find the solution here with a detailed explanation.

If you still need to find the cakes, check out our dedicated guide here showing all seven locations.

Voyages of Luck

You’ll also receive seven Voyages of Luck when you set sail during the Event! They expire when the Event ends so make sure that you complete each one in time! You can find your Voyages in the Limited Voyages section of your Quest Table.

Login Bonuses

On top of the cosmetics you can earn from the Community Goals, you can unlock two more by setting sail during the Community Weekend!

To receive the Season 15 Community Weekend Flag and Golden Sailor Hull, set sail on the High Seas any time during the Season 15 Community Weekend.

Pop-Up Plunder

After setting sail, you’ll want to watch the Sea of Thieves social channels for clues on where to find Pop-Up Plunder!

Pop-Up Plunder is a piece of treasure that the Community team from Rare can bury at specific locations across all active Sea of Thieves servers. The Pop-Up Plunder will only be discoverable for a limited time after being announced. You’ll have an hour to be exact.

Pop-Up Plunder can be a variety of different types of treasure. You can expect to dig up Collector’s Chests filled with Siren Gems, Chests of Legends, and Chests of Fortune! It can even be a Box of Wondrous Secrets!

Every time Pop-Up Plunder becomes available, you’ll receive an in-game toast and a Pop-Up Plunder Quest Note to notify you.

You can find out where the latest Pop-Up Plunder is throughout the weekend here or by following the dedicated Pop-Up Plunder interactive map marker!

Twitch Drops

You’ll want to tune into any Sea of Thieves Partner on Twitch to unlock four cosmetics. The cosmetics include the Seasoned Sailor Heavy Sword, Seasoned Sailor Eye of Reach, Eastern Winds Ruby Pegleg, and Eastern Winds Ruby Trousers.

Picture Walls

And finally, the Picture Wall! Like previous Community Weekends, a Season-themed Picture Wall will appear on every Outpost across the Sea of Thieves. Grab your crew, strike a pose, and take a pic or two!

To the Tavern!

Aye, we pirates do love a good tavern. ‘Tis a place to share our findings and adventures. ‘Tis a place to clap each other on the back. ‘Tis a place to glean further insight.

Happily, we’ve found proverbial taverns on several social outposts—each bustling with a vibrant pirate community! Want to join in the merriment? Ye will always find a hearty welcome at our table!

  1. Please make everything in high seas available in safer seas except hour glass. That would allow non PVP players to enjoy the game while leaving high seas to the PVPers who just want fight. You could even allow more than one boat on safe seas through a servers code or something for friends to join each other.
