If you happen to see a glowing red skull floating in the North East corner of the world, it can only mean one thing: a Molten Sands World Event is active! You’ll want to make your way over if you want to plunder the elusive Orb of the Banished held within its Vault.
Molten Sands Fortress World Event
The glowing red skull cloud indicates an active Molten Sands Fortress World Event. Completing the World Event will reward you with a Vault of treasure as well as an Orb of the Banished.
Molten Sands Fortress World Event is a player-activated World Event that you can begin by placing a Molten Sands Key in the altar of the fortress. You can acquire the Molten Sands Key by completing a time-limited Emisary Quest from any Trading Company.
The Emissary Quest will direct you to a large island with an Eternal Guard that holds the key. Defeating the Eternal Guard will reward you with the key. You can sell it to any Trading Company or take it to Molten Sands Fortress to activate the World Event.
Completing all eight waves of the World Event, including an Ashen Lord on the final wave, will allow you to unlock the fortress Vault and access the mounds of treasure inside. If you can collect and sell every piece, you can earn about 200,000 Gold without any multipliers.
