The Sea of Thieves is filled with various treasures for adventurous pirates to find, and plenty of Trading Companies eager to buy them! Most treasures can only be sold at one corresponding Trading Company, but others can be sold to almost any Trading Company!
For pirates who have just washed ashore in the Sea of Thieves, it can be difficult keeping track of what goes where. Bumbling aimlessly around the Outposts can mean lost time. If there’s an enemy nearby, it can mean lost treasure. That’s where this little guide comes in handy!
Aye, that’s because here we’ve listed out each and every treasure you’ll find throughout the seas, and which Trading Company will accept such treasure in exchange for Gold Coins—and sometimes for Doubloons!

What treasure goes to the Gold Hoarders?
The Gold Hoarders are looking for any chests and artifacts you find along your travels in the Sea of Thieves. Chests contain gold and they are called the Gold Hoarders after all!
Chests
You can sell almost every chest attainable to the Gold Hoarders. Whether they be of the Ashen, Cursed, or Coral variant, the Gold Hoarders will gladly take them off your hands!
You can sell the following chests to the Gold Hoarders:
- Castaway’s Chest
- Seafarer’s Chest
- Marauder’s Chest
- Captain’s Chest
- Ashen Castaway’s Chest
- Ashen Seafarer’s Chest
- Ashen Marauder’s Chest
- Ashen Captain’s Chest

There are exceptions though! The Gold Hoarders will not accept a Reaper’s Chest, Reaper’s Bounty, Box of Wondrous Secrets or any of the Tall Tale chests.

The Gold Hoarders are also looking to purchase any Artifacts that you have come across. Whether it be a cheap Mysterious Vessel or an expensive Peculiar Relic, the Gold Hoarders want it!

The Order of Souls only seek one treasure on the Sea of Thieves…skulls!
Bounty Skulls
If you find a skull while you are plundering the seas, you can guarantee the Order of Souls are interested. You can sell almost every skull found in the Sea of Thieves to the Order of Souls, no questions asked!
You can sell the following skulls to the Order of Souls:
- Foul Bounty Skull
- Disgraced Bounty Skull
- Hateful Bounty Skull
- Villainous Bounty Skull
- Ashen Foul Bounty Skull
- Ashen Disgraced Bounty Skull

If it is in a crate of some sort, you can bet the Merchant Alliance want it!
Captured Animals
Chickens, Pigs and Snakes, oh my! All three types of wildlife found on land in the Sea of Thieves are of interest to the Merchant Alliance. Bring any captured variant of chicken, pig and snake and they will gladly pay you for it.
You can sell the following animals to the Merchant Alliance:
- White Feathered Chicken

- Black Plumed Chicken
- Golden Chicken
- Pink Pig
- Pink & Black Spotted Pig
- Black Coated Pig

Almost every kind of crate you can find in the Sea of Thieves will go to the Merchant Alliance. Same goes for Gunpowder Barrels!

The one crate you cannot sell to the Merchant Alliance is the Crate of Legendary Voyages. It is legendary so that means it goes to the legendary Athena’s Fortune. Similarly, the one gunpowder barrel you cannot sell to the Merchant Alliance is the Keg of Ancient Black Powder.
What treasure goes to Athena’s Fortune?
The Mysterious Stranger is not looking for just your average treasure washed up on the beach. No, the Mysterious Stranger is looking for ancient treasure! Treasure that was created and placed in the Sea of Thieves long before our time!
You can sell the following treasures to Athena’s Fortune:
- Chest of Legends
- Ashen Chest of Legends
- Chalice of Ancient Fortune
- Gilded Relic of Ancient Fortune
- Skull of Ancient Fortune
- Villainous Skull of Ancient Fortune
- Crate of Legendary Voyages
- Keg of Ancient Black Powder
What treasure goes to the Reaper’s Bones?
The Reaper’s Bones will take any piece of treasure you can find! Yep, that’s right! Every piece of treasure we listed above can be sold for profit to the Reaper’s Bones. There are a few additional treasures we haven’t mentioned yet that are exclusive to the Reaper’s Bones.
You can also sell the following treasures to the Reaper’s Bones:

- Box of Wondrous Secrets
- Emissary Flag
- Humble Gift
- Generous Gift
- Skull of the Banished

The Reaper’s Bones will also buy Bilge Rat treasure! You can sell Ashen Tomes, Ritual Skulls, Ashen Keys, and Ashen Chests to the Servant of the Flame at The Reaper’s Hideout for Doubloons and Reaper’s Bones Reputation. If you’re sailing as a Graded Reaper’s Bones Emissary, you’ll earn even more for each one. So, if you’re working on your standing with the Reaper’s Bones, their table is the place to unload your Bilge Rat loot.
What treasure goes to The Hunter’s Call?
The Hunter’s Call is interested in anything you can catch, cook, or pull from the deep. You’ll find their representatives waiting at Seaposts scattered across the sea.
You can sell the following to The Hunter’s Call:
- All fish, from Splashtails to Battlegills
- Cooked meat, including pork, chicken, snake, shark, Megalodon, and Kraken
- Elegant Fishing Float Pack
- Hunting Spear Tip Pack
- Crate of Shark’s Teeth
- Crate of Precious Pearls
- Crate of Kraken Tentacles
- Irresistible Bait Pack
- Finest Fish Hook Pack
- Crate of Curious Fish Scales
- Monstrous Kraken Eye
- Treacherous Plunder
The Hunter’s Call will also gladly buy your Mermaid Gems, Siren Gems, Breath of the Sea, and empty Collector’s Chests, making a Seapost a handy stop when your ship is carrying odds and ends. Selling to The Hunter’s Call is also one of the best ways to raise your Reputation with them.
What treasure goes to Larinna and the Bilge Rats?
Looking for Duke? Aye, he no longer holds court in the Tavern—he’s got a habit of wandering these days. (If you’d like to track him down anyway, our Where is Duke? tracker has you covered.) These days, Larinna handles all Bilge Rat business from her post right outside every Outpost Tavern.
The treasures that can be sold to Larinna for Doubloons are:
- Ashen Tomes
- Ritual Skulls
- Ashen Chests (locked or unlocked)
- Ashen Keys
Remember, the Reaper’s Bones buy all of the same treasure for Doubloons plus Reputation, so consider the Servant of the Flame if you’re grinding your Reaper’s standing.
What about The Sovereigns?
The Sovereigns are less a Trading Company and more a premium delivery service. Stationed in their hut on the dock of every Outpost, they’ll accept treasure from Captains and their crews and deliver it to the relevant Trading Company on your behalf—for the same Gold and Reputation as selling it directly!
The Sovereigns will not handle Reaper’s Bones exclusive treasure, and they won’t accept Cargo Runs. Nearly everything else, from chests and skulls to Bilge Rat loot and Hunter’s Call catches, can go straight onto their lift.

Gems and Sea Treasures
Mermaid Gems can be sold to any of the three main Trading Companies, as well as The Hunter’s Call and the Sovereigns.
The Mermaid Gems that can be sold are:
- Sapphire Mermaid Gem
- Emerald Mermaid Gem
- Ruby Mermaid Gem
Down in the Sunken Kingdom, the Sirens guard treasures of their own. Siren Gems and the coveted Breath of the Sea can be sold to the same buyers as Mermaid Gems.

What about Banished Ancient Treasure?
The mysterious client’s excavations filled the Sanctuaries of the Banished with piles of Banished Ancient Treasure—and every Trading Company wants a piece! There are five variants, one for each Trading Company, along with Tridents of the Banished that any company will buy.

Collector’s Chests
Collector’s Chests can also be sold to any of the Trading Companies except for Athena’s Fortune. They must be empty before you can sell them though so be sure to crack them open and sell their contents first!
