While the Sea of Thieves has dozens of exciting artifacts for pirates to wield during their adventures, none might be as dangerous as the Skull of Siren Song! Not only can devilish buccaneers use the Skull of Siren Song as a weapon against their foes, but the cursed skull can also slow any vessel to a crawl and beckon an endless wave of skeletons on land to defend it.

Skull of Siren Song

The Skull of Siren Song is an ancient skull only found in the Skull of Siren Song Voyage. To acquire the skull, you must unlock the Chest of Siren Song using the Key of Siren Song. Once you open the chest, you’ll find the skull inside.

The Skull of Siren Song is worth 50,000 gold. However, you can only sell it to Briggsy during the Skull of Siren Song Voyage.

Unlike most skulls in the Sea of Thieves, the Skull of Siren Song is much more than a piece of treasure to sell. The Skull of Siren Song is a weapon! Like the Ashen Winds Skull, you can use it to blast damaging sound waves at your opponents. To trigger the blasts, hold Right Trigger on Xbox or Left Mouse Button on PC.

Unlike the Ashen Winds Skull, using the Skull of Siren Song will not decrease its value when you hand it in! However, it can run out of power, so use it wisely!

Skull of Siren Song Curse

The Skull of Siren Song is also cursed and will slow down any ship it’s on! Once a crew opens the Chest of Siren Song, the curse automatically affects the ship, persisting as long as the skull remains aboard. Removing the skull is the only way to lift the curse.

Attempting to evade the curse by holding onto the ship’s ladder is futile as this tactic will not circumvent the curse’s effects. The same goes for stowing the skull in an attached rowboat.

The curse’s strength varies by ship type, ensuring a balanced experience for all crews. So, the amount each ship slows down will allow slower vessels to catch up during pursuits. The Brigantine is affected the most as it is the fastest ship.

Even on land, the skull’s curse persists. When the Skull of Siren Song is ashore, Coral Skeletons constantly spawn, creating a never-ending obstacle to your mission to deliver the skull to Briggsy!
