The Sea of Thieves is celebrating its sixth anniversary with a special in-game event you don’t want to miss! There is a login bonus to claim, double Gold and Reputation to earn, and a challenge with an exciting reward to complete!

Everyone can participate in the celebration no matter how long you’ve been sailing the sea! So whether you are new to the Sea of Thieves or an old salt who’s been around since the beginning, grab a grog, raise anchor, and set sail to celebrate!

What is the Sixth Anniversary Celebration Event?

During the Sixth Anniversary Celebration Event, you can claim a unique login bonus, the Golden Sailor Capstan. You can also earn a special cutlass, the Seaglass Rapier, by uncovering Legendary Messages in Bottles.

Gold & Glory will also be active during the Event, allowing you to earn double Gold, Reputation, Guild Reputation, Allegiance, and Seasonal Renown!

What are the Anniversary Event rewards?

Participating in this year’s Anniversary Celebration Event will earn you the Golden Sailor Captain and Seaglass Rapier.

To earn the Golden Sailor Capstan, log in and set sail during the Event. You will automatically unlock the Capstan, and it will appear in your Ship Customization Chest ready for you to equip.

To earn the Seaglass Rapier, you must complete the Event’s single challenge by finding and completing eight Legendary Messages in Bottles.

Legendary Messages in a Bottle

Legendary Messages in Bottles are purple bottles that can appear randomly in shipwrecks and on the shores of any island in the High Seas, excluding Outposts. You cannot find Legendary Messages in Bottles in Safer Seas.

The Legendary Messages in Bottles glint bright purple from a distance, making them easy to spot as you sail by islands or explore shorelines.

You don’t need to be a Pirate Legend to see or find one. Any pirate of any experience can collect a Legendary Message in a Bottle.

Each Legendary Message in a Bottle contains an “X Marks the Spot” Quest. However, unlike regular Messages in Bottles, the Legendary Message in a Bottle “X Marks the Spot” Quest will always lead you to Athena’s Fortune treasures. These treasures include a Chest of Legends, a Keg of Ancient Black Powder, and a Collector’s Chest filled with Athena trinkets.

If sailing as an Athena’s Fortune Emissary, you will also increase your Emisary Grade each time you pick up a Legendary Message in a Bottle. Picking up just three will allow you to reach Emissary Grade 5.

Completing eight “X Marks the Spot” Quests from the Legendary Messages in Bottles will unlock the Seaglass Rapier cosmetic.
