Season 21 has arrived and introduces more tools for Custom Seas, another Season Pass with rewards to unlock, festive Live Events, and dozens of new Outpost cosmetics for you to purchase with Gold.

Season 21 also alters the sandbox with bold changes, including an experiment that affects every Voyage, Tall Tale, and Raid Voyage!

Layouts

Season 21 introduces Layouts to Custom Seas. With Layouts, you can save the placement of any items you’ve spawned into the world, allowing you to set up your custom experiences faster than ever. No more spending 20 minutes at the start of your session carefully placing a chain of Gunpowder Barrels!

Once you’ve placed all the items you want in their desired locations, you can save their arrangement in a Layout. To save them, open Custom Seas Options, choose Save Layout, and enter a Layout Name.

After you’ve saved your Layout, open Custom Seas Options, select Open Layout, and choose your Layout to reload all the items exactly where you placed them. The Layouts are saved across sessions, so you can use them whenever you like. The next time you sail into Custom Seas, load a Layout, and all of the treasure will be exactly as you left it.

You can save almost any item you spawn in a Layout, including items you’ve buried! However, you cannot currently save items placed in Chests and Storage Crates.

Every item you spawn through the Command Menu or Quick Command is marked for saving. Emergent items, such as treasure found on islands or shipwrecks, will not be saved in your Layout.

You can only have one Layout open at a time. Each Location supports 10 Layouts. So, you can have 10 Layouts in The Sea of Thieves and 10 different Layouts in Tribute Peak.

Switches

Season 21 also adds new Switches to Custom Seas.

If you’ve been struggling to keep track of the other ships during your session, you can now toggle the ability to view them all on your ship’s Map Table. Reaper’s Bones Emissary Grade V not needed! You can choose to view them as Shrouded Ships or as their Ship Livery.

You can also change the speed of time! If the day is moving too slowly or too fast for you, you can set the World Time Speed.

Other Switches you can look forward to using during your Custom Seas experience include:

  • Disabling health regeneration from Food
  • Spawning Ships with zero supplies
  • Controlling which parts of a Ship can be damaged

Diving Disabled

Time for another experiment! While the last one prevented you from using your Quest Table to dive into any on-demand World Events through Raid Voyages, this new experiment prevents you from diving into anything!

During Season 21, you can no longer dive into Voyages, Tall Tales, and Raid Voyages. As for the Raid Voyage Treasures you need for Commendations such as Hoarder’s Reliquaries, Eyes of Souls, Scrolls, and Kraken Eyes, you can find them amongst the loot pile in emergent World Events.

And you can find Talismans for Athena’s Fortune during the Legend of the Veil Voyage.

Chest of Fortune

Throughout Season 21, you can continue to find Chests of Fortune in emergent World Events, including:

  • Skeleton Forts
  • Reaper Fortresses
  • Fort of Fortune
  • Ashen Winds
  • Skeleton Fleets
  • Ghost Fleets
  • The Burning Blade
  • Fort of the Damned

Before Season 20, the Chest of Fortune was available at one rotating World Event. So for one season, the Chest of Fortune was the Fort of Fortune, and another it was at the Fort of the Damned. Now, no single World Event holds the Chest of Fortune, and every emergent World Event shares the same chance at holding one.

With the Season 21 experiment that prevents any kind of diving, these World Events appear only emergently. You cannot dive to them as on-demand Raid Voyages, so every World Event you find on the seas is an emergent one with a chance of having a Chest of Fortune.

Vanquishing one of these emergent World Events will always at least reward you with a standard emergent World Event loot pile. However, you have a rare chance of finding a Chest of Fortune with the standard loot pile, and an even rarer chance of finding three Chests of Fortune!

Season Pass

Another Season means another Season Pass to ascend. As you raise your Renown through 50 levels, you can unlock Doubloons, Voyages, and Pirate Emporium cosmetics. Those with the Premium Tier can also expect to earn Ancient Coins and the Mutiny’s Mark Ship Set. If you manage to reach Level 50, you can claim the Fate’s Light lantern!

If you forgot to claim any of your rewards from Season 20’s Season Pass, you will automatically receive them.

Fate's Light Lantern

Live Events

In addition to recurring Events such as the Bilge Rats Weekender, Fight Nights, and Emissaries of Fortune, you can also expect to participate in a few unique Events during Season 21.

During Talk Like a Pirate Day, you can raise the Parley Pennant Flag from your Ship Flag Box to signal your intentions to parley with other crews. Parleying with three different crews during the Event will reward you with the Parley Proficiency Sails.

You will also want to mark your calendars for the upcoming Gold & Glory Event (October 25th to 28th) and the return of Last Ship Standing!

And, with Season 21 taking place during October, you can also expect the return of the Tricksters and Treaters Event and the Festival of the Damned!

Fallen Sea Dog Cosmetics

With Season 21, a dedicated Last Ship Standing Commendation is available for you to work on. As you achieve each Grade of the Commendation by securing wins in Last Ship Standing, you will unlock cosmetics from the Fallen Sea Dog set, including Clothing, Equipment, Weapons, and Ship cosmetics. You’ll have to reach Grade 10 to unlock them all!

For those who have already traveled to the Sea of the Damned for a Last Ship Standing match, your previous wins will count retroactively.

Outpost Cosmetics

Season 21 brings an unprecedented number of Outpost cosmetics for you to spend your hard-earned Gold on! To start, you’ll find the Fisherman’s Fable Ship Set, the first entry in a range of cosmetics that celebrates Legends of the Waves. The Fisherman’s Fable Ship Set pays tribute to Merrick, the double peg-legged ex-captain of the Killer Whale and defender of Golden Sands.

You can also find the Cast Iron Weapon Set and the Courteous Knave Clothing Set for Pirate Legends in the Legend Hideout!

And that’s not all. As the Season continues, you can expect more Outpost cosmetics to be available for purchase with Gold.
