Sometimes a pirate’s most useful tool isn’t gunpowder or steel, but their voice. Whether you want to broker a deal over a pile of treasure or team up against a fearsome foe, talking like a pirate can be more effective than fighting like one.
What is the Talk Like a Pirate Day Event?
During Talk Like a Pirate Day, you can raise a Parley Pennant Flag on your ship to notify other crews that you want to parley. If you can alert three different crews with the flag during the Event, you will complete the Chatty Pirate Goal and unlock the Parley Proficiency Sails.
The Parley Pennant Flag is a permanent addition to your ship’s Flag Box, allowing you to raise it even after the Event ends.
The Talk Like a Pirate Day Event runs from Thursday, September 17th, 10 am UTC to Tuesday, September 22nd, 10 am UTC.
Chatty Pirate Goal
To complete the Chatty Pirate Goal, you must use your the Parley Pennant to alert three different crews that you’re looking to trade words with them.
To raise the Parley Pennant Flag, climb up to your ship’s crow’s nest, interact with the Flag Box, choose Pennants, and equip the Parley Pennant Flag. Similar to the Alliance Flag, you can only equip the Parley Pennant Flag from the Flag Box in your crow’s nest.
Once you sail within 150 meters of another crew with the flag raised (roughly a third of a map square), they will receive a notification that you want to parley, and you will receive credit toward the Goal.
The other crew doesn’t need to do anything. As long as they see the notification, you were close enough to make progress.
Be mindful as you approach, since the flag doesn’t require the other crew to hold their fire. But no matter their reaction, you will still get credit.
If other crews keep running away from you, you can also raise your Parley Pennant Flag during Hourglass Faction Battles.
Once you offer parley to three crews, you will complete the Goal and unlock the Parley Proficiency Sails.
