Whispers of a rare and valuable artifact held deep within the Vault of Molten Sands Fortress have spread across the Sea of Thieves. Hoping to control the power held within the Orb of the Banished, each Trading Company is sending its most dedicated Emissaries to raid the Vault, obtain the relic, and return it for a generous bounty of Gold, Reputation, and exclusive Ship’s Crest.
What is the Molten Sands Fortress Event?
During the Molten Sands Fortress Event, you can embark on a time-limited Emissary Quest, tackle a player-activated World Event at Molten Sands Fortress, take advantage of boosted values for all Emissary actions, complete Deeds for Act 2 of Season 18, and unlock six event-exclusive rewards!
The time-limited Emissary Quest is a single Quest that will have you hunting down and defeating an Eternal Guard that holds a Molten Sands Key. You can sell the key to any Trading Company or use it to activate the Molten Sands Fortress World Event. If you can complete the World Event by defeating all eight waves of Skeletons, you can unlock the fortress Vault and plunder the treasure inside, including the elusive Orb of the Banished.
Time-Limited Emissary Quest
To claim the time-limited Emissary Quest from a Trading Company, you’ll need to reach Emissary Grade V while sailing as an Emissary for that Trading Company.
If you haven’t already, you can purchase an Emissary License from any Trading Company Representative once you reach Reputation Level 15 with that Trading Company. Once you have purchased the Emissary License from the Company Shop, you can vote to represent them by interacting with their Emissary Table at the Outpost.
Once you are sailing as an Emissary, you’ll want to perform actions that raise your Emissary Grade, such as picking up Trading Company treasure, placing Trading Company treasure on your ship, completing Trading Company Voyages, conquering World Events, and defeating rival Emissaries.
During the Event, each action you perform to increase your Emissary Grade will grant a larger amount of Emissary than usual, allowing you to reach Grade V much quicker.
As soon as you raise your Emissary to Grade V, you can claim the time-limited Emissary Quest from the Representative at any Outpost.

What are the Molten Sands Fortress Event Rewards?
Completing the time-limited Emissary Quest and activating Molten Sands Fortress for each Trading Company will complete the required Deeds and unlock the six event-exclusive rewards.
The six rewards are all Ship’s Crests, each representing a different Trading Company. The Ship’s Crests are:
- The Fortune’s Exiled Ship’s Crest
- The Hoarder’s Exiled Ship’s Crest
- The Hunter’s Exiled Ship’s Crest
- The Merchant’s Exiled Ship’s Crest
- The Order’s Exiled Ship’s Crest
- The Reaper’s Exiled Ship’s Crest
So, for example, to unlock the Fortune’s Exiled Ship’s Crest, you must complete an Emissary Quest to defeat an Eternal Guard for Athena’s Fortune and activate Molten Sands using the key as Athena’s Fortune Emissary.
While you don’t need to sell the Orb of the Banished to unlock any of the Ship’s Crests, you might still want to grab it for the large amount of Gold it’s worth and the Renown you’ll receive for completing the related Deed.
How long is the Molten Sands Fortress Event?
The Molten Sands Fortress Event will be active for roughly four weeks starting January 22nd. Once the Event ends, you won’t be able to work on the Deeds for Act 2 or unlock the rewards.

Hi there. The deeds show that they need to sell an orb of the banished for each trading company emmisary. is selling the orb of the banished for each trading company still needed to obtain the time-limited exclusive Exiled ship crests?
No, the Orb Deeds are just for Renown. They are not required for the Ship’s Crests.
