Since good old Captain Jack and his trusty crew’s arrival, the pirates of the Sea of Thieves have had to contend with a few new foes during their adventures.
Ocean Crawlers and Phantoms now prowl island beaches while Sirens ravage anyone who dares explore below the sea.
To prevent these new inhabitants from overrunning the Sea of Thieves, Larinna and the Bilge Rats have whipped up another event!
The Jewels of the Deep Event will reward pirates willing to take on the Ocean Crawlers, Phantoms, and Sirens who have made their way to the Sea of Thieves with unique rewards!
As you defeat these perilous foes during your adventures, you’ll also want to collect Mermaid and Siren gems for another exclusive reward that you can only acquire through the event!

What is the Jewels of the Deep Event?
The Jewels of the Deep Event is comprised of eight repeatable Challenges that reward Favour and one Long-Term Challenge that rewards the elusive Ruby Sovereign Eyepatch.
Repeatable Challenges
For the Jewels of the Deep Event, the Bilge Rats will be keeping track of the Favour you earn every time you complete one of the repeatable Challenges—like a point system.
Once you have met certain point thresholds, the Bilge Rats will reward you with unique marine-inspired cosmetics!
The curated list of eight Challenges that will reward Favour upon completion includes defeating Ocean Crawlers, killing Phantoms, slaying Sirens, and destroying Cursed Mermaid Statues!
Although you’ll need to complete Challenges to acquire Favour points, there is no requirement that you complete all of the Challenges or complete any particular Challenge.
Even better, the Challenges are repeatable. So, you can choose to complete whichever Challenges you prefer, as many times as you like, to collect Favour.
You can also complete each Challenge with a Trident of Dark Tides, which will reward bonus Favour! Two times the Favour, to be exact!

Long-Term Challenge
On top of the eight repeatable Challenges, the Jewels of the Deep Event also has one Long-Term Challenge.
Completing the Long-Term Challenge will reward you with the event-exclusive cosmetic, the Ruby Sovereign Eyepatch!
To complete it, you will need to sell 100 Mermaid or Siren Gems to any Trading Company before the event ends. Sapphire, Emerald, and Ruby Gems will all count towards this Challenge.
So as you sail the sea taking out any Ocean Crawlers and Sirens, be sure to keep an eye out for any gems along the way!
How long is the Jewels of the Deep Event?
The Jewels of the Deep Event will run from September 2nd to September 16th.
What are the Jewels of the Deep rewards?
Completing the repeatable Challenges will reward players with a Jewels of the Deep Scar, Tattoo, Make-Up, and Collector of Cursed Gems Title.
Earn 200 Favour to unlock the Jewels of the Deep Scar.
Earning 300 Favour will unlock the Jewels of the Deep Makeup.
If you manage to earn 400 Favour, you will unlock the Jewels of the Deep Tattoo.
Finally, earning 500 Favour will unlock the Collector of Cursed Gems Title!
Completing the Long-Term Challenge of selling 100 Mermaid or Siren Gems to any Trading Company will unlock a time-limited event-exclusive cosmetic – a Ruby Sovereign Eyepatch.
What are the Jewels of the Deep Challenges?
There are a total of eight Challenges that reward Favour upon completion. Each Challenge is crew-based and offers additional Favour if completed with a Trident of Dark Tides.
While you can complete the Challenges anywhere in the Sea of Thieves, you will find that completing most of them during The Sunken Pearl Tall Tale is one of the best ways to accumulate Favour.
It is one of the best ways to earn Favour due to the guaranteed Ocean Crawler, Siren, Siren Leader, and Trident of Dark Tides spawns you’ll encounter during the sunken pearl.
You’ll see why that is so important as we go through each Challenge below.
Earn 5 Favour by...
Defeating an Ocean Crawler. Do so using a Trident to earn extra Favour!
There are three types of Ocean Crawlers that you can find throughout the Sea of Thieves: the Eel-ectric, the Hermit, and the Crab.
While they each have different moves and different amounts of health, each will reward you with the same amount of Favour.
You can find Ocean Crawlers emergently on islands as you explore them or during The Sunken Pearl Tall Tale.
You can kill Ocean Crawlers by the same means as you would skeletons. Cutlass, Firearm, Cannon, and Gunpowder Barrel damage will all effectively take an Ocean Crawler down.
Destroying either the emergent or Tall Tale Ocean Crawlers will reward you with Favour.
This Challenge is crew-based, so it doesn’t matter who slays the Ocean Crawler in your crew.
Don’t forget to use a Trident of Dark Tides when fighting Ocean Crawlers! You will get extra Favour for each kill.

Earn 5 Favour by...
Defeating a Phantom. Do so using a Trident to earn extra Favour!
You can find Phantoms emergently on islands as you explore them or during the Captains of the Damned Tall Tale. Destroying either the emergent or Tall Tale Phantoms will reward you with Favour.
Phantoms are susceptible to Cutlass, Firearm, Cannon, and Gunpowder Barrel damage just as skeletons are.
This Challenge is crew-based, so it doesn’t matter who in your crew defeats the Phantom.
Just with every Challenge during this event, don’t forget to use a Trident of Dark Tides when fighting Phantoms! You will get extra Favour for each kill.

Earn 5 Favour by...
Destroying a Sapphire Cursed Mermaid Statue. Do so with a Trident to earn extra Favour!
There are three types of Cursed Mermaid Statues, each with varying health and rewards. The Sapphire Cursed Mermaid Statue is the weakest of the three and will drop a Sapphire Mermaid Gem after being destroyed.
You can find a Sapphire Cursed Mermaid Statue randomly on the shores of small and large islands. However, you cannot find Cursed Mermaid Statues by Forts, Outposts, and Seaposts.
Sapphire Cursed Mermaid Statues are easy to spot by their glowing blue gem in their chest.
The statues can appear either in shallow or deep waters surrounding islands, so you’ll want to swim below the water to find one.
You can quickly destroy one by yourself. When you find one, use all five rounds of your firearm against it and then slash away with your sword. You should be able to destroy it before the damage it emits to nearby pirates gets the best of you.
It should be even easier to destroy if you use a Trident of Dark Tides for extra Favour!
This Challenge is crew-based, so it doesn’t matter who in your crew destroys the statue.

Earn 10 Favour by...
Defeating a Siren. Do so with a Trident to earn extra Favour!
You can find Sirens emergently below the water or during The Sunken Pearl Tall Tale.
Cutlass, Firearm, Cannon, and Gunpowder Barrels will also work against Sirens.
Destroying either the emergent or Tall Tale Sirens will reward you with Favour.
This Challenge is crew-based, so it doesn’t matter who in your crew vanquishes the Siren.
Again, don’t forget to use a Trident of Dark Tides when fighting Sirens! You will get extra Favour for each kill.

Earn 10 Favour by...
Destroying an Emerald Cursed Mermaid Statue. Do so with a Trident to earn extra Favour!
There are three types of Cursed Mermaid Statues, each with varying health and rewards. The Emerald Cursed Mermaid Statue has more health than the Sapphire Cursed Mermaid Statue, but it has less health than the Ruby Cursed Mermaid Statue. You will earn an Emerald Mermaid Gem after you destroy one.
You can find an Emerald Cursed Mermaid Statue randomly on the shores of small and large islands. Unfortunately, this excludes Forts, Outposts, and Seaposts.
Emerald Cursed Mermaid Statues are easy to spot by their glowing green gem in their chest.
The statues can appear either in shallow or deep waters surrounding islands, so you’ll want to swim below the water to find one.
You can destroy one by yourself, though they are not as easy to break as a Sapphire Cursed Mermaid Statue. You will want to bring some good fruit with you to eat in between slashing the statue with your cutlass and shooting at it with your firearm.
Hopefully, you have a Trident of Dark Tides with you to make it easier to destroy and earn that extra Favour!
This Challenge is crew-based, so it doesn’t matter who in your crew destroys the statue.

Earn 15 Favour by...
Defeating a Siren Leader. Do so with a Trident to earn extra Favour!
You can find Siren Leaders emergently on below the water or during The Sunken Pearl Tall Tale. Siren Leaders have more health than standard Sirens and also wield a Trident of Dark Tides!
Though, you will still be able to use Cutlass, Firearms, Cannons, and Gunpowder Barrels against them.
Destroying either the emergent or Tall Tale Siren Leaders will reward you with Favour.
This Challenge is crew-based, so it doesn’t matter who in your crew kills the Siren Leader.
Don’t forget to give the Siren Leaders a taste of their own medicine and use a Trident of Dark Tides to fight them! You will get extra Favour for each kill.

Earn 15 Favour by...
Destroying a Ruby Cursed Mermaid Statue. Do so with a Trident to earn extra Favour!
There are three types of Cursed Mermaid Statues, each with varying health and rewards. The Ruby Cursed Mermaid Statue is the strongest of the three Cursed Mermaid Statues and will drop a Ruby Mermaid Gem if you can destroy it.
You can find a Ruby Cursed Mermaid Statue randomly on the shores of small and large islands, excluding Forts, Outposts, and Seaposts.
Ruby Cursed Mermaid Statues are easy to spot by their glowing red gem in their chest.
The statues can appear either in shallow or deep waters surrounding islands, so you’ll want to swim below the water to find one.
It is nearly impossible to destroy one of these statues on your own unless you are able to use five Gunpowder Barrels on one. Having a crew mate will help make it much more manageable. You’ll want to have cooked meat and good fruit on you when you go to destroy the statue.
You can take one out by yourself though if you have a Trident of Dark Tides!
This Challenge is crew-based, so it doesn’t matter who in your crew destroys the statue.

Earn 20 Favour by...
Defeating a Siren Queen. Do so with a Trident to earn extra Favour!
You can only find the Siren Queen at the end of The Sunken Pearl Tall Tale. You have to defeat her to complete the Tall Tale, so you won’t have a chance of missing her as you progress through the Tall Tale.
The Siren Queen has a lot of health and deals a hefty amount of damage. You’ll want to take advantage of the Tridents of Dark Tides found in the room you fight her in to make the battle easier on yourself.
Dealing a final blow with a Trident of Dark Tides will also net you double Favour!

Which Challenges should you do?
So now that you know what each of the relatable Challenges entails, you can see why doing The Sunken Pearl Tall Tale is a great way to earn the max Favour you need to unlock all the Favour locked rewards.
During The Sunken Pearl, you will encounter dozens of Ocean Crawlers, Siren, Siren Leaders, and the Siren Queen. The Tall Tale also provides plenty of Tridents of Dark Tides along the way, meaning you have the opportunity to kill many of the threats the Tall Tale throws at you using one, earning you that double Favour.

Long-Term Challenge
There is one Long-Term Challenge during this event, and that Challenge is to sell 100 Mermaid and Siren Gems.
To receive credit for this Challenge, you must sell Mermaid or Siren Gems to any Trading Company. It doesn’t matter which Trading Company it is either.
You can sell them to the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance, Reapers Bones, or The Hunter’s Call.
All five Trading Companies are keen to acquire any precious Mermaid and Siren Gems you find during your adventures. So, to tip the odds of you selling your gems to them in their favor, they will be offering a 1.5x bonus for each Mermaid and Siren Gem you sell them.
Each Trading Company will have two real-time days where their Mermaid and Siren Gem bonus is active throughout the event. This bonus will rotate between the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance, Reapers Bones, and The Hunter’s Call.
After cycling through each Trading Company, the remainder of the event will have the bonus active for all five companies at the same time.
Doing so will unlock the time-limited event-exclusive Ruby Sovereign Eyepatch that will only be available during this event.

Earn the Ruby Sovereign Eyepatch by...
Handing in 100 Mermaid and Siren Gems to any Trading Company.
To complete this Long-Term Challenge, you must sell 100 Mermaid or Siren Gems to any Trading Company that accepts them. All three variants of each will count towards this Challenge.

Best ways to find Gems
While you can find Mermaid Gems from destroyed Mermaid Statues or randomly washed up on islands, some of the best places to find Mermaid Gems are:
- Megalodons
- Skeleton Ships
- Shipwrecks
- Athena’s Run of Thieves’ Haven Voyage
Megalodons
A defeated Megalodon will relinquish a mighty pile of loot! More often than not you will find at least one Mermaid Gem amongst the loot. We usually find two and sometimes have even found three different Mermaid Gems!
Skeleton Ships
Just as Megalodons gift a sizable bounty of treasure upon defeat, so do Skeleton Ships. Amongst the loot you are more than likely to find at least one Mermaid Gem. Similar to the Megalodons, we have found up to three Mermaid Gems floating with the rest of the treasure!
Shipwrecks
Shipwrecks are filled with many prized possessions from Shipwrecked Captain Chests to Tridents of Dark Tides. You can also find one or two Mermaid Gems in the hull of a shipwreck.
Athena's Run of Thieves' Haven Voyage
Pirate Legends have one more efficient option for finding Mermaid Gems. While working on completing an Athena’s Run of Thieves’ Haven Voyage, you can expect to dig up several Mermaid Gems along the way.
