Whether you’re angling for a rare Stormfish or trying to reel in a fiery Devilfish, knowing how to find and use the correct Bait is essential for any aspiring angler. Mastering this resource can make all the difference between a lucky catch and an empty hook!
What is Bait?
Bait is a type of Resource you can use to catch different species of Fish. You can also eat Bait like Fruit. However, eating Bait is not suggested as it only slightly increases your health and might cause you to vomit.
There are three types of Bait that you can find in the Sea of Thieves: Earthworms, Grubs, and Leaches.
You can find Bait in Resource Barrels and Bait Crates or dig Bait up on islands and Outposts across the Sea of Thieves. Specifically, you can dig up Leeches in wet sand near the shoreline, Grubs in dry sand, and Earthworms in grass and dirt.
You can carry 10 pieces of Bait in your Inventory and store Bait in your ship’s Food Resource Barrel or a Bait Crate.

How do you use Bait?
To use Bait, equip your Fishing Rod from your Quest Radial and open up your Quest Radial again to see a prompt for Bait. You’ll then see a Bait Radial showing all the Bait you have on you. Choose one, and you will add it to your Fishing Rod.

What Bait do you use for each Fish?
Depending on the Fish, you’ll need to equip a particular type of Bait to your Fishing Rod and cast in a specific location to lure it from the water.
