Expect to see plenty more Reaper’s Chest and Reaper’s Bounty beacons gleaming in the sky! Not because there are more chests to discover but because the swirling lights they radiate no longer disappear when picked up.
With their beacons always present, it will be harder for someone to try to sell one undercover. Instead of looking at your Map Table, you can quickly scan the horizon to locate a chest. If you notice the beacon moving, you know it’s already in some pirate’s greedy hands!
Changes to the Reaper's Chest and Reaper's Bounty
Previously, a beacon would emit from a Reaper’s Chest or Reaper’s Bounty if freshly spawned and untouched in a Shipwreck. The beacons would then disappear as soon as someone picked them up. So it was safe to assume that if you saw a Reaper’s Chest or Reaper’s Bounty beacon swirling in the sky, it was still in the Shipwreck. However, starting in Season Nine, that is no longer the case!
Instead, the beacons emitting from Reaper’s Chests and Reaper’s Bounties will persistently stay with the chest. Even after being picked up! As the chest moves, so will the swirling lights pinpointing its location. The beacon will now only disappear after someone sells it.
As for the Reaper’s Chests and Reaper’s Bounties inside the Fort of the Damned, these chests will still not have a beacon while they sit in the vault waiting to be retrieved. However, a beacon will appear once someone picks one of them up and stay with the chest until someone sells it.
