The Pirate Lord is asking all pirates to be one of his Guardians of Fortune. Unfortunately, Flameheart has unleashed his Servants of the Flame on the Sea of Thieves, and he needs all the help he can get to stop them! While the Pirate Lord offers gold to all who answer the call, he also has Faction-exclusive rewards for you to earn, including the mythical Ghostly Curse!
How to earn Allegiance
You must first join the Guardians of Fortune Faction from your Captain’s Cabin to earn Allegiance for them. You can only raise Allegiance by joining their Faction and opting into fights with the Servants of the Flame.
Once you have pledged your Allegiance to the Guardians of Fortune, you have opted into on-demand PVP and can start earning Allegiance by:
- Fighting Servants of the Flame ships
- Turning in your Faction Stash Grade at an Outpost
- Cashing out your Hourglass of Fate at an Outpost
You can boost the Allegiance you earn from fighting ships by raising your Streak, defeating opposing ships with a high Streak, and your Faction Stash Grade.

Fighting Servants of the Flame Ships
Fighting Servants of the Flame ships guarantees you Allegiance, win or lose. Of course, you’ll earn much more Allegiance for winning a battle than losing. But either way, you will have made some progress by fighting a Servant of the Flame ship.
You won’t earn any Allegiance for sinking a crew representing the Guardians of Fortune.
Each time you win a battle, you will build up your Allegiance Streak. Streaks act as a multiplier on the Allegiance you earn from winning. The higher your Streak, the higher the multiplier used on Allegiance you make from your next win.
The Streak of your opponent can increase your Allegiance as well. The higher your opponent’s Streak, the more Allegiance you’ll earn.

Faction Stash Grade
Turning in your Faction Stash Grade also guarantees your Allegiance. However, this method of earning Allegiance is not very efficient. The payout is low, even at the higher Grades.
Similar to the payout you receive for leaving an Emissary with a leveled-up Emissary Grade, you will receive Allegiance for a leveled-up Faction Stash Grade.
To raise your Faction Stash Grade, you must gather treasure on your ship. The more loot you have collected, your Faction Stash Grade will be higher! Once you have at least Faction Stash Grade 1, you can go to an Outpost and stop fighting for the Servants of the Flame. As soon as you are no longer with the Faction, you will earn your Allegiance.
To fully utilize your Faction Stash Grade, you’ll want to defend your ship from a Servants of the Flame ship. Your Faction Stash Grade multiplies the Allegiance you earn from sinking an opponent. The higher your Faction Stash Grade, the greater the multiplier!

Hourglass of Fate
If you can make it to any Outpost and leave the fight with even one win’s worth of Hourglass Value, you’ll earn some Allegiance. If you are brave enough to go on a Streak and make even more Hourglass Value, you will receive even more Allegiance when you leave the fight.

Servants of the Flame
If you want to level up your Servants of the Flame Allegiance, head on to this guide over here. While you’ll be performing similar actions to level up, you’ll do them all in the name of Flameheart!
