Even though a Pet can’t help you take down a Skeleton Lord or fend off a rival crew, they’re still an invaluable addition to any pirate’s adventure. Pets react to your Emotes, munch on food, soar through the skies when fired from a cannon, and even take cover in the heat of battle. So, whether you’re a lone pirate looking for someone to share a banana with or part of a large crew in need of an extra dancing partner, a Pet is always the answer!
How to get a Pet
To get a Pet in Sea of Thieves, you must purchase one from the Pirate Emporium using Ancient Coins. Unlike Gold and Doubloons, which you earn from completing in-game activities, you buy Ancient Coins with real-world currency in the Pirate Emporium.
It is also possible to earn some Ancient Coins by progressing through each Season’s Plunder Pass or randomly from Ancient Skeletons. However, the Ancient Coins in the Plunder Pass are limited, and Ancient Skeletons are hard to come by.
Most Pets cost 499 Ancient Coins. However, some special Collector’s Pets can cost 649 Ancient Coins.
Once you have some Ancient Coins, you are ready to purchase your Pet from the Pirate Emporium!
Pirate Emporium
You can physically go to the Pirate Emporium in-game once you’ve set sail, or you can visit the Pirate Emporium much more conveniently from the Main Menu or the Start Menu after you’ve set sail.
Once you are in the Pirate Emporium, navigate to the Pets tab, and you’ll find Parrots, Monkeys, Cats, Dogs, Pigs, Foxes, Owls, and Toucans. Each Pet has various colors and outfits that you can purchase.
Equip Pet
Once you have purchased a Pet, you can equip it from any Pet Chest in game. You can find Pet Chests next to the Pirate Emporium on any Outpost as well as on your Ship.
You can also name your Pet from the Pet Chest and change its outfit.
