If you are just looking to complete “Under Monkey Island” and navigate through the catacombs, your first step is to place all three Monkey Idols on the Monkey Hand!
Under Monkey Island Commendation
To complete the “Under Monkey Island” commendation and navigate through the catacombs, you’ll need to follow the Head of the Navigator through the catacombs to LeChuck’s ghost ship. However, you’ll need to first place all three Monkey Idols on the Monkey Hand before gaining access to the catacombs.
Once you place all three Monkey Idols on the Monkey Hand, you’ll acquire the Cotton Swab Key. You can use the key on the Stone Monkey Head to gain entry to the catacombs.
Guybrush will give you the Head of the Navigator as soon as you use the key and open the entrance to the catacombs. The Head of the Navigator acts like a compass and will always face the direction you need to go. However, the path forward is not always immediately available.
You’ll need to follow the Head of the Navigator around with Guybrush in each chamber of the catacombs until the path reveals itself. When a way forward is available, the Head of the Navigator will recalibrate and point you to it.
You will navigate several chambers, ride a flume, and navigate a couple more rooms before you eventually reach LeChuck’s ghost ship. Once you give the Head of the Navigator back to Guybrush and walk towards LeChuck’s ghost ship, you will unlock the “Under Monkey Island” commendation.
