If you are just looking to complete ‘Hired Help’ and purchase the Chef’s Uniform, your first step is to talk to the Chef in the Kitchen of Scumm Bar!
How to purchase the Chef's Uniform
To purchase Chef’s Uniform, you must find out about the uniform’s whereabouts from the Chef and collect 45 Pieces o’ Eight scattered around Mêlée Island.
You can find the Chef in the Kitchen of Scumm Bar. When you locate the Chef, talk to him and choose the “I’m looking for work.” dialogue option. He will inform you that he has reserved Chef’s Uniform at the General Store. With that knowledge, you can purchase it when you have enough Pieces o’ Eight.
You can find a Piece o’ Eight as soon as you step foot on the docks that lead into town. You’ll find it sitting on a barrel. You can also find Pieces o’ Eight inside crates, cupboards, footlockers, and other furniture you can open on the island.
While some of the Pieces o’ Eight locations are random, specific locations will always have Pieces o’ Eight.
Once you have 45 Pieces o’ Eight, you can go to the General Store and purchase the Chef’s Uniform.
Scumm Bar Pieces o' Eight
There are a total of eight crates you can open around Scumm Bar. There are two crates around the dock houses to the South West and six around Scumm Bar. You can find a Pieces o’ Eight Pouch inside any of them.
You can also pick up five Pieces o’ Eight on a table inside the bar. However, you won’t be able to steal the Pieces o’ Eight Pouches from the pirates in the bar just yet! You’ll be able to after you get the Chef’s Uniform.
Lookout Point Pieces o' Eight
From Scumm Bar, head South West past the dock houses and up the mountain. You’ll want to climb to the top, where you’ll find Lookout. Speak with him and choose the last dialogue option to distract him. With Lookout’s back turned to you, you can steal his Pieces o’ Eight Pouch.
Low Street Pieces o' Eight
Head down the mountain the way you came up and walk past Scumm Bar, under the arch, and toward Low Street. While Low Street itself doesn’t have any crates, there are two crates you can open on the street between Scumm Bar and Low Street.
High Street Pieces o' Eight
Walk under the Clock Tower from Low Street to High Street to search for more Pieces o’ Eight. You’ll also see the General Store to your right, where you’ll purchase the Chef’s Uniform once you have enough Pieces o’ Eight.
In the middle of High Street is a crate you can open with a possible Pieces o’ Eight Pouch inside.
Church Pieces o' Eight
Next, you’ll want to go inside the Church. You can find Pieces o’ Eight on the pews on either side of the aisle and Pieces o’ Eight on the cabinets on either side of the podium.
Alley Pieces o' Eight
After you’ve collected the Pieces o’ Eight in the Church, head outside and walk down the Alley behind the Church. There are two more crates you can open for possible Pieces o’ Eight. As you head down the Alley, you will also run into Walt and the Poodles. Walt has a Pieces o’ Eight Pouch, but you won’t be able to steal it until you have your Chef’s Uniform, so head back out toward High Street.
Jail Pieces o' Eight
From the Alley, turn right, and walk past the Church to the Jail. Inside the Jail is a cupboard with a Pieces o’ Eight Pouch inside.
Purchase the Chef's Uniform
Once you collect the last Pieces o’ Eight Pouch you should have 45 to 50 Pieces o’ Eight to spend. Head over to the General Store in High Street, approach the Chef’s Uniform, and purchase it. You can put it on using the nearby Clothing Chest.
