One of the many commendations you can complete during The Lair of LeChuck Tall Tale is the “Glad to Be Dead” commendation. You can start working on the commendation as soon as you arrive at Monkey Island during this Tall Tale.

If you are just looking to complete “Glad to Be Dead” and defeat LeChuck’s ghost ship, your first step is to navigate through the catacombs!
Glad to Be Dead Commendation
To complete the “Glad to Be Dead” commendation and defeat LeChuck’s ghost ship, you’ll need to destroy LeChuck’s ghost ship three times in the final lava-filled chamber under Monkey Island. However, you’ll need to open up the Stone Monkey Head, navigate through the catacombs, and chase LeChuck through the underground tunnels first.
Once you have LeChuck cornered, you can defeat his ghost ship.
Defeat LeChuck's ghost ship
To defeat LeChuck’s ghost ship, you must destroy his ship three times using Root Beer Cannonballs. After chasing LeChuck through the lava-filled tunnels below Monkey Island, you will corner him in a massive chamber.
You will now have the opportunity to fire at LeChuck and destroy his ghost ship. It takes about 15 to 20 Root Beer Cannonballs to destroy his ship. You must destroy his ship three times before you will defeat his ghost ship.
Take advantage of Elaine and Guybrush on the front cannons. Tailing behind LeChuck’s ghost ship will allow Elaine and Guybrush to volley dozens of cannonballs using the two front cannons. Don’t forget to raise your sails a bit to go slower if you are going to pass LeChuck.
After you destroy his ship three times, you will unlock the “Glad to Be Dead” commendation.
