One of the many commendations you can complete during The Journey to Mêlée Island Tall Tale is the ‘Delayed in Transit’ commendation. You can start working on the commendation once you arrive at Mêlée Island during this Tall Tale.

If you need help completing the rest of The Journey to Mêlée Island Tall Tale, check out our entire walkthrough here.

If you are just looking to complete ‘Delayed in Transit’ and deliver the Citizen of Mêlée’s missing cargo, your first step is to speak with the Citizen of Mêlée!

How to deliver the Citizen of Mêlée's missing cargo

Once you’ve stepped foot on Mêlée Island, you’ll want to find Citizen. Head East past Scumm Bar, walk under the stone arch, and follow the stone path to Low Street. As Kate’s Quest Book mentioned, you will find Citizen here.

You’ll know you have reached Low Street when you come across a lone pirate standing on a corner, three pirates standing among themselves, and a large Clock Tower.

Low Street

The lone pirate standing on a corner is Citizen. He will have several unique items laid before him. Approach and talk to him. He will inform you that his latest shipment got sunk at the docks.

Before heading back to the docks where the cargo is, you must continue to High Street and retrieve a tool to recover the cargo. If you speak to the three pirates across the street, the Men of Low Moral Fiber, they will let you know the tool is in the Jail at High Street.

Find the tool required to open the Cargo Crate

Walk under the Clock Tower and into High Street. Keep walking forward, and you will find the Jail after the Church. Head inside the Jail to find a Claw Hammer sitting on the table. The table is just next to the prisoner Otis. Pick up the Claw Hammer, exit the Jail, and return to the docks.

Recover Crate of Important Goods

Walk past Scumm Bar to the dock house with a Crate Winch. Once you reach the dock with the pulley and ladder, set down the Claw Hammer. You’ll want to put it somewhere you will remember.

With empty hands, approach the nearby pulley to start moving the winch.

First, adjust the Crate Winch Height by lowering it all the way. Then, climb the ladder on the dock house to reach another pulley. Adjust the Crate Winch Angle using this pulley by moving it to the right. The winch will catch the hook on the Cargo Crate in the water. However, if you try to pull up with the Crate Winch Height pulley, you will find it won’t budge.

Adjust Crate Winch Height

To fix this problem, you must free the Cargo Crate. Jump in the water and use your sword or firearm to damage the two frayed ropes holding the crate down. Destroying the ropes will allow you to use the Crate Winches again to get the Cargo Crate out of the water.

Cargo Crate ropes

Climb out of the water onto the dock, raise the Cargo Crate, move it to the left, and lower it safely onto the dock.

With the Cargo Crate retrieved, you can pick up your Claw Hammer and use it to interact with the Cargo Crate. You will open the Cargo Crate and reveal a Crate of Important Goods.

Return Crate of Important Goods to Citizen

Pick up the Crate of Important Goods and return it to Citizen in Low Street. Give him the crate, and you will receive the Legend of Monkey Island Meet ‘n’ Greet ticket. You will also unlock a Checkpoint and complete the ‘Delayed in Transit’ commendation.
