The first-ever Wish You Were Here Event is upon us! To celebrate the launch of The Rough Guide to Sea of Thieves, you can explore various locations throughout the sea to complete Goals and unlock time-limited cosmetics. You can also earn extra gold and reputation for specific types of loot you find along the way!
What is the Wish You Were Here Event?
The Wish You Were Here Event contains two Challenge Cards for your crew to complete. The first Challenge Card, Novice Explorer, includes six Goals ranging from easy to medium difficulty. You can expect to visit islands, take on Sea Forts, and catch fish to complete some of these Goals.
The second Challenge Card, Experienced Navigator, has the remaining six Goals. These Goals are more formidable and range from medium to hard difficulty. You can expect to take on Skeleton Forts, open a Fort of Fortune vault, and battle Skeleton Fleets to complete some of these Goals.
The Goals from both sets are not repeatable like in other events, so you only need to complete a Goal’s requirements once. You can also work on the Goals over several sailing sessions. You’ll need to achieve all twelve Goals to earn every possible cosmetic the event offers!
On top of the Goals you can work on for cosmetics, you can also earn increased gold and reputation for any Ashen or Coral treasure you sell.
You can view your progress toward the Goals in-game in the Events section or online in the Events Hub.
What are the Wish You Were Here rewards?
You can unlock four time-limited cosmetics if you complete every Goal across two Challenge Cards. It is important to note that these cosmetics will return for everyone in a future Season.
You will unlock the Refined Gold Speaking Trumpet if you complete three Goals.
Completing six Goals will unlock the Refined Gold Spyglass.
If you complete nine Goals, you will unlock the Refined Gold Cutlass.
And, finally, if you complete twelve Goals, you will unlock the Cartographer Tattoo.
How long is the Wish You Were Here Event?
The Wish You Were Here Event runs from September 14th to September 21st.
Novice Explorer Goals
Relax and unwind with some low-stakes, accessible exploration Goals.
Island Hoping Tour
Visit islands in three different regions of the Sea of Thieves.
To complete this Goal, you must step on an island in three different regions. Four regions are in the Sea of Thieves so you can choose any three for this Goal. As The Devil’s Roar is secluded to the East, you can visit an island in The Shores of Plenty, The Ancient Isles, and The Wilds to complete the Goal quickly.
Underwater Exploration
Visit three Siren Shrines, Siren Treasuries or Shipwrecks.
To complete this Goal, you must visit three different Siren Shrines, Siren Treasuries, or Shipwrecks.
You can quickly find Siren Shrines and Treasuries by scanning your Map Table. As for shipwrecks, watch for a large flock of seagulls circling above the water as you sail the sea. Below them will be a shipwreck!
You can visit any combination of Shrines, Treasuries, or Shipwrecks to complete the Goal.
If you need help completing any of the Siren Shrines, check out our in-depth walkthroughs here!
Historic Sightseeing
Clear out a Sea Fort, Siren Treasury or Gold Hoarder Treasure Vault.
To complete this Goal, you must clear out a Sea Fort, Siren Treasury, or Gold Hoarder Treasure Vault.
To clear out a Sea Fort or Siren Treasury, you must complete every wave of the event and defeat the Captain of the Fortress or Treasury Vaultmaster. Scanning your Map Table lets you quickly find a nearby Sea Fort or Siren Treasury.
To clear out a Gold Hoarder Treasure Vault, you must open and complete the vault. You can find a Treasure Vault by finishing a Wayfinder Voyage and discovering the Treasure Vault Key at the end of the voyage. Once you have the key, go to its corresponding vault and use it to open it.
You might want to focus on Siren Treasuries as you need to clear them out for the Castle Tour Goal as well.
Serene Fishing
Catch three fish.
To complete this Goal, you must catch any three fish.
You can catch three Splashtails anywhere in the Sea of Thieves or focus on getting a Trophy Fish from a specific region to help you simultaneously complete another Goal, Accomplished Angler.
Master Chef
Cook food on an island at night, on your ship and using all four pans of a Sea Fort stove.
To complete this Goal, you must cook uncooked food three times: once on an island at night, once on your ship, and once using all four pans at a Sea Fort.
You can find four pans at a Sea Fort on the main floor of the fort. The pans will be along the wall across from a large round table. Place a piece of uncooked food in each of the four pans simultaneously to use all four pans.
Tavern Crawl
Take a seat in three different taverns.
To complete this Goal, sit down at one of the tables in three different Taverns. You can do this each time you wake up in the Sea of Thieves and hope you wake up in another Tavern each time or travel to three during your sailing session.
Experienced Navigator Goals
Put your exploration skills to the test with a series of more elaborate Goals.
World Tour
Visit five islands or Sea Forts in each region of the Sea of Thieves.
To complete this Goal, you must visit five islands or Sea Forts in every region of the Sea of Thieves. So, you’ll need to step on five islands or Sea Forts in The Shores of Plenty, The Ancient Isles, The Wilds, and The Devil’s Roar.
As The Devil’s Roar has no Sea Forts, you’ll visit five islands there.
Castle Tour
Clear out Skeleton Forts or Siren Treasuries in two different regions of the Sea of Thieves.
To complete this Goal, you must clear out a Skeleton Fort or Siren Treasury in two different regions in the Sea of Thieves. Since Skeleton Forts randomly appear as they are a World Event, it will be easier to tackle Siren Treasuries instead. Complete a Siren Treasury in two different regions to complete the Goal.
Treasuries from Ancient Battlefields
Unlock the vault in a Fort of Fortune or the Fort of the Damned.
To complete this Goal, you must be on a Fort of Fortune or Fort of the Damned when a crew opens the vault. It can be your crew or another crew, just so long as you are on the fort when the key is used on the vault.
With that in mind, if you are having trouble completing one on your own, you can always hide on the island and wait until someone else unlocks the vault for you!
The Naval Battle Experience
Battle three Ghost Fleets, Skeleton Fleets, Kraken or Megalodons.
To complete this Goal, you must battle three of the four listed encounters: a Ghost Fleet, a Skeleton Fleet, a Kraken, and a Megalodon. You can complete any combination of encounters.
It might be best to focus on this Goal last as you might naturally run into a Kraken or Megalodon as you work on the other goals, leaving you with just completing a Skeleton Fleet or Ghost Fleet.
If you are not receiving credit for completing a Skeleton Fleet, you can try sinking an emergent Skeleton Ship. We have confirmed that defeating one will progress the Goal.
Accomplished Angler
Catch a Trophy Plentifin, Wildsplash, Ancientscale, and Devilfish.
To complete this Goal, you must catch a Trophy Plentifin, Wildsplash, Ancientscale, and Devilfish.
You can find the Trophy Plentifin in The Shores of Plenty using Worms, the Wildsplash in The Wilds using Worms, the Ancientscale in The Ancient Isles using Leeches, and the Devilfish in The Devil’s Roar using Grubs.
Singed Supplies
Complete two Voyages in The Devil’s Roar for the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls or Athena’s Fortune.
Roar from the Gold Hoarders, the Order of Souls, or Athena’s Fortune. You can complete any combination of Voyages, so choose the Trading Company your crew is most comfortable with.
As you need to clear out a Gold Hoarder Treasure Vault in the Historic Sightseeing Goal, you must want to complete a Wayfinder Voyage!
