One of the many quest types you can experience during the Legend of the Veil voyage is the Lying Map Quest. The Lying Map Quest is a puzzle-focused quest that will test your knowledge of the rock paintings found around the islands in the Sea of Thieves. One island a Lying Map Quest can send you to is Thieves’ Haven.
Thieves' Haven Lying Map Quest
If your Lying Map Quest is for Thieves’ Haven, your Quest Book will have a two-page map depicting a top-down view of Thieves’ Haven with Ancient symbols drawn on it. The locations of the symbols on the map should match the locations of actual rocking paintings on the island. However, one of the symbols is a lie and not really on the island.
To complete the quest, you will need to search Thieves’ Haven for the symbols on your map. As you explore, you will eventually find a rock painting that doesn’t match its symbol.
When you do, start digging in front of the rock painting. If you have found the right spot, you will dig up an Ancient Chest with the Veil Stone inside and complete the quest.
Below you will find images showing what rock painting should be at each symbol’s location.
Thrice Marked Crabs
This rock painting is on the North East beach on Thieves’ Haven. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a crab, dig in front of this rock painting.
Turtle
This rock painting is on top of the island near the twin stone heads. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a turtle, dig in front of this rock painting.
Three Horizontal Triangles
This rock painting is on top of the island on the three colossal stone heads. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than three horizontal triangles, dig in front of this rock painting.
Eagle's Passage
This rock painting is on top of the island to the South East. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than an eagle head, dig in front of this rock painting.
Butterfly
This rock painting is high up on the cliffs to the South of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a butterfly, dig in front of this rock painting.
Mark of the Red Eyed Parrot
This rock painting is on the middle level of the island overlooking the inner waters. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a parrot head, dig in front of this rock painting.
Piñata
This rock painting is the Northern caves on the middle level of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a circle of animals, dig in front of this rock painting.
Ancients
This rock painting is on the middle of the island to the North. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than Ancients, dig in front of this rock painting.
Twin Fish
This rock painting is near the North beach of the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than two fish, dig in front of this rock painting.
Snake
This rock painting is on top of the West arch on the island. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a snake, dig in front of this rock painting.
Hunters Tale
This rock painting is on a cliff facing the North sea. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than a sketches of boars, dig in front of this rock painting.
Red Hooks
This rock painting is on the West side of the island on the base of the West arch. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than red hooks, dig in front of this rock painting.
Three Vertical Triangles
This rock painting is on the middle level of the island to the West. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than three vertical triangles, dig in front of this rock painting.
Spearfisherman
This rock painting is on a small isle to the West. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than an Ancient on a boat, dig in front of this rock painting.
Spears
This rock painting is on top of the island to the South. If your Lying Map Quest has anything at this location other than spears, dig in front of this rock painting.
In this variation of the Thieves’ Haven Lying Map Quest, the location of the spears was the dig site since the map had an Ancient with a spear symbol.

Did not get any info that helps. I was on theives heaven and had a chalice that was going to dig on the location but did not find where to dig.
There isn’t a chalice rock painting on Thieves Haven so that should have been where you needed to dig. This guide shows what all the possible rock paintings are and what locations. If you have one that doesn’t match, that’s your answer.
