The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom voyage will have you following clues left behind by Humphrey the Hoarder and a Scholar who helped Humphrey bury his secrets.

As you follow the trail of clues with a Golden Wayfinder compass, you will learn of the great dangers that lie ahead dare you to continue the Voyage. But, if you ignore the warning and continue, you will follow the remaining Sholar’s clues until you uncover a long-forgotten secret, one that might have been better left alone.

Before starting the Voyage from the Quest Table, you must first venture into each Siren Shrines and read the journals hidden within. If you need any help on your hunt to find each journal, be sure to check out our Siren Shrine journal locations guides here!

After uncovering the mysteries of each Shrine, you will be able to start The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom voyage from the Special Voyages section in the Quest Table.

Crews brave enough to complete The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom will unlock a curse, the Curse of Sunken Sorrow. Wearing this curse will be a sign to others of how much time you’ve spent below the surface.

Like all other voyages, it must be completed in one sitting. There are no checkpoints.

How to complete The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom Voyage

The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom voyage can be started from the Quest Table after you have found all 30 of the Sunken Kingdom journals.

Once you have read all 30, you can start the voyage from the Quest Table and start your adventure!

Start the Voyage

Go to the Special Voyages section in the Quest Table and vote on The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom voyage. During this voyage, you will be diving deep below the waves to uncover an ancient secret.

Once the voyage has started, you will receive a Golden Wayfinder compass and Humphrey’s Notes.

You can find Humphrey’s Notes in your Quest Radial. The note will inform you that Humphrey has buried a chest in an agreed-upon location.

Equip the Golden Wayfinder compass from your Quest Radial and follow it to the island where the chest is buried!

Follow Golden Wayfinder Compass

Discover the Forbidden Coral Chest

The Golden Wayfinder compass will direct you to the island with the chest.

Once you arrive at the island, hop off your ship onto the island and follow the compass to where it leads. The needle will start to wave faster and faster until it quickly spins around in a circle. Once it starts spinning wildly in a circle, you know you are in the right spot.

Equip your shovel and dig up the Forbidden Coral Chest. Upon digging up the chest, Ocean Crawlers will ambush you. You don’t need to defeat them all if you don’t want to, but it might make it easier to dig up the chest with them gone.

You will also receive more of Humphrey’s Notes upon digging up the chest.

Forbidden Coral Chest Found

Pick up the chest and stow it on your ship. Do not lose this chest! You will need to carry this chest with you until the end of the voyage to complete it.

Unfortunately, you can’t open the chest just yet. You’ll see that 3 Keys are needed to unlock it. Now that we have the chest, it’s time to hunt down the keys.

The new note you collected from Humphrey will mention that a scholar has buried notes that lead to the keys we need for the chest. Following the Golden Wayfinder will take us to the notes.

Equip the Golden Wayfinder and let it lead the way!

Discover the Scholar's Notes

Follow the Golden Wayfinder compass to the island with the buried notes that have the key locations.

Hop on the island and follow the compass to the notes. Once you are in the right location, equip your shovel and dig up the Scholar’s Notes.

When you pick up Scholar’s Notes, you will also receive the Scholar’s Riddle.

As you might have guessed, Ocean Crawlers will ambush you as soon as you dig up the notes.

Dispatch of them, leave them, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is you have your first riddle!

Pick up Scholar's Notes

Seek the Shrine of Hungering

The Scholar’s Note will warn you to stop your mission to find the keys as it will only lead to terrible danger.

If you choose to take on the mission, read the Scholar’s Riddle. You can find the Scholar’s Riddle in your Quest Radial. It is the quest with the upside-down triangle symbol on it.

It will tell you to seek the Shrine of Hungering. The riddle will also mention that you must find a coin and place it by a door. Also, a trail of riches will lead the way.

Sail to the Shrine of Hungering in The Wilds and swim down to get inside the Shrine. Your goal here is to find the Gold Hoarders Medallion and place it at the lock near the Forbidden Key Alcove in the Shrine of Hungering.

Once in the Shrine, you will need to make your way to the top of the Shrine to find the stone Forbidden Key Alcove. You will need to solve both Siren Statue Puzzles to make it to the top. The Forbidden Key Alcove is just next to the large Megalodon jaw before the final room of the Shrine.

Once you find it, you will see that it is close and locked. Inside this locked door is the key you seek.

To unlock it, you must find the Gold Hoarders Medallion in the Shrine.

Forbidden Key Alcove

Where is the Gold Hoarders Medallion in the Shrine of Hungering

Follow the piles of gold leading away from the Forbidden Key Alcove to find the Gold Hoarders Medallion. The trail of gold should lead you down the mast beam and the skeletal spine you just crossed. On the spine that creates a tunnel is the Gold Hoarders Medallion.

Follow gold trail

These gold trails can only been seen by your crew so you don’t have to worry above another crew stealing your medallion.

The medallion will Shine like treasure from a distance.

Unlock the Forbidden Key Alcove in the Shrine of Hungering

Pick up the Gold Hoarders Medallion and climb back up to the Forbidden Key Alcove. Place the medallion in the lock to unlock the door.

The Forbidden Key Alcove will open and reveal a Forbidden Key. Pick up the Forbidden Key. When you pick up the key, you will also receive another Scholar’s Riddle.

Bring the key back to the chest and use it. There’s no harm in placing the key in the chest before getting all three. Using the key now will help manage holding onto just one item instead of several.

Found Forbidden Key

Seek the Shrine of Ocean's Fortune

The next Scholar’s Riddle will lead you to the next Shrine, the Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune. You will be hunting down another medallion here to open the next Forbidden Key Alcove to retrieve the next Forbidden Key.

Sail on over to the Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune in The Shores of Plenty.

Once there, swim down and enter the Shrine. You will need to ascend to the third floor of the Shrine, where you spin the mast around to climb to the top of the Shrine.

Where is the Gold Hoarders Medallion in the Shrine of Ocean's Fortune

Once you are on the third floor of the Shrine, solve the mast puzzle and make your way up the chamber. After rotating the mast for the third time, you will find the God Hoarders Medallion on a coral platform as you make your way up. Pick up the medallion and keep heading up.

Unlock the Forbidden Key Alcove in the Shrine of Ocean's Fortune

The Forbidden Key Alcove is on the East side of the chamber at the very top. You’ll need to climb higher than the crow’s nest of the mast to reach it.

Use the medallion to unlock the stone door and pick up Forbidden Key. You will receive one more Scholar’s Riddle when you pick up the key.

The Scholar’s Riddle will tell you to head to the Shrine of Ancient Tears.

Seek the Shrine of Ancient Tears

Sail on over to the Shrine of Ancient Tears in The Ancient Isles.

Swim down and enter the Shrine. While you had to complete most of the other two Shrines to reach the Forbidden Key Alcove, you only need to complete the beginning of this Shrine to unlock it.

You’ll find the Forbidden Key Alcove on the first floor of the main chamber in the Shrine, just to the right of the stone altar.

Where is the Gold Hoarders Medallion in the Shrine of Ancient Tears

The trail of coins that lead to the Gold Hoarders Medallion leads to a locked room on the second floor to the East.

To unlock the room, you will need to solve the Floor Plate Puzzle. Quickly run around the perimeter of the chamber, stepping on all four Floor Plates in quick succession. All four floor plates being in the down position at the same time will open the locked room with the Gold Hoarders Medallion.

Head inside the room to find the Gold Hoarders Medallion sitting on the throne in the middle of the room.

Unlock the Forbidden Key Alcove in the Shrine of Ancient Tears

Take the medallion down to the Forbidden Key Alcove and unlock it. You will find your last Forbidden Key Time to see what is inside that chest!

Unlock the Forbidden Coral Chest

Use third key on chest to receive Mysterious Ancient Key. Luckily, you won’t have to go far to use the Mysterious Ancient Key.

Open the Forbidden Ancient Chamber

Next to the Forbidden Key Alcove in the Shrine of Ancient Tears is a stone altar with a large triangle cutout in the middle of it. Place the Mysterious Ancient Key in the altar with the triangle cutout in it.

Using the Mysterious Ancient Key will open a locked stone door just left of the altar. This door leads to the Forbidden Ancient Chamber.

Inside the Forbidden Ancient Chamber, you will find a dead coral skeleton, a mural, and most importantly, a journal. The name of this journal is ‘War Below the Waves.’

Read the entire journal to complete The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom voyage and unlock the Curse of Sunken Sorrow.
