While exploring the deep dark depths of the Sunken Kingdom, you will find piles of coral treasure to loot. Unfortunately, ferrying each piece back up to the surface would be quite a chore. Thankfully, the always helpful mermaids of the Sea of Thieves even carry influence in the Sunken Kingdom!
Mermaids have placed Sunken Merfolk Statues throughout the Sunken Kingdom. You can not only use these statues to travel back to your ship quickly but also to store any treasure you find below!
What is the Sunken Merfolk Statue
The Sunken Merfolk Statue is a stone statue found throughout the Shrines and Treasuries in the Sunken Kingdom. They look similar to the Tale Progress Statues but have a clamshell at their feet. The clamshell is where you can store up to 20 pieces of your precious treasure.
Using this statue will allow you to efficiently manage the treasure you find while exploring the Sunken Kingdom. Not only can your crew use it to transport yourselves back to your ship, but you can also use the Sunken Merfolk Statue to transport your treasure to the water’s surface.
How to use the Sunken Merfolk Statue
When you find a Sunken Merfolk Statue in a Shrine or Treasury, you can store any treasure you are carrying in it. You can store up to 20 items of treasure. This limit is set for your crew, so it does not impact you if another crew has treasure stored in the same Shrine or Treasury.
To retrieve the treasure you store in a Sunken Merfolk Statue, head back to the surface and wait above the Shrine or Treasury. A mermaid with a purple plume of smoke will appear, carrying the clamshell full of the treasure you stored. Interact with the mermaid to ask them to give it back to you.
As long as you stay in the same session, the mermaid will always appear above that Shrine or Treasury for you until you collect the treasure.
So if your ship sunk while you were battling in a Treasury, you can come back later with a new ship and collect the treasure from the mermaid without worry.
Only your crew can collect your treasure!
