As you stumble upon various Smugglers’ League treasures throughout the Sea of Thieves, you are sure to discover a Smugglers’ Message in a Bottle. Inside, you’ll find a request from the Smugglers’ League to help deliver some of their most treacherous plunder. If you are successful in your delivery, you can expect a generous amount of Gold in return!
Smugglers' Message in a Bottle
Smugglers’ Messages in Bottles are black bottles marked with the Smugglers’ League symbol. You can find them randomly on island beaches and inside Smugglers’ Shipwrecks.
Each Smugglers’ Message in a Bottle contains a “Smugglers’ Run” Quest that will have you delivering three pieces of treasure between two large islands. Specifically, you’ll need to collect three pieces of treasure from a Smugglers’ League representative on one island and sell them to another representative on a different island.
The treasure you’ll be delivering includes a Black Powder Barrel, Exquisite Painting, and Crate of Golden Greed Rum. As the Black Powder Barrel is a giant explosive and the Crates of Rum are highly fragile, you’ll need to be careful as you ferry the cargo across the sea.
Once you collect the treasure, inspect the pieces of cargo to find where you must deliver them. You’ll have a name and an island to help you determine where to go. They should all go to the same Smugglers’ League representative.
Fortunately, there is no time limit to the Smugglers’ Run Quest. Unlike Merchant Alliance Cargo Runs, you can take as long as you like to collect and deliver the treasure. However, you must successfully deliver each piece to complete the Voyage. If the Black Powder Barrel explodes, you can’t complete the Voyage.
Completing a Smugglers’ Message in a Bottle will count toward the Smugglers’ Runner Commendation.
