Ever wanted to feel like a Skeleton Lord? Then you might be interested in finding the Skeleton Thrones.

Skeleton Thrones were introduced in the first ever Bilge Rat Adventure—the summer of 2018! Pirates were tasked with finding and sitting atop ten Skeleton Thrones perched throughout the world.

For some Skeleton Thrones, crews were also asked to share the throne with another crew—and this was before pirates could make formal alliances.

In exchange, pirates earned a currency that—at the time—was extremely rare: Doubloons. Pirates also unlocked commendations.

Happily, even if you missed out on the original Bilge Rat Adventure, you can still unlock these commendations, and we’re here to help!

For each Skeleton Throne, we’ll show you where it is, let you know which commendation you’ll unlock, and let you know whether you can unlock this commendation on your own or if you’ll need another crew to join you.

Off we go!

The Shores of Plenty

Smuggler’s Bay

Commendation: Smuggle into the Throne Close to the Bay

Throne Size: Large throne, requires multiple crews.

The Skeleton Throne on Smuggler’s Bay is out on a rock formation just to the North West of the island. Sail your ship to the Bottom of D2/Top of D3 and you’ll find the throne nestled into the rock formation.

Place your ship nearby with your cannons facing the throne and shoot out to land nearby.

Hidden Spring Keep

Commendation: Rest in the Throne that Keeps Watch

Throne Size: Small throne, just a single crew required.

The Skeleton Throne at Hidden Spring Keep is on top of the tallest tower on the fort. You’ll have to use a cannon to reach it as there is no ladder up to it.

Use the cannon located in the South West most fort tower. The height will give you an arc advantage and you won’t need to deal with the waves rocking your ship.

Cannon Cove

Commendation: Rest in the Cove’s Secret Throne

Throne Size: Large throne, requires multiple crews.

The Skeleton Throne at Cannon Cove is on top of the large rock formation in the middle of the island. You’ll need to use your ship’s cannon to get on top and find the throne.

Sail your ship to the North East side of the island with your cannon facing West. You’ll cannon yourself onto the slope of the rock formation and find the throne on top of the hole that leads to the cave below.

Uncharted Island at K9

Commendation: Take a Seat in the Throne Beneath the Waves

Throne Size: Small throne, just a single crew required.

From the center of the uncharted island, dive below and swim South. You’ll find a cave entrance that leads to a long underwater cave. This cave will spit you out into an underground cavern with the throne.

Mermaid’s Hideaway

Commendation: Rest in the Throne that is Hidden Away

Throne Size: Small throne, just a single crew required.

The Skeleton Throne on Mermaid’s Hideaway is on top of an isolated rock tower found on the South East side of the island. You’ll need to use your ship’s cannon to reach this spot.

Park your boat on the North side of the island with your cannon facing South towards the rock tower. Shoot yourself out and try to use the throne or trees as a backboard.

The Ancient Isles

Plunder Outpost

Commendation: Plunder the Secret Throne

Throne Size: Large throne, multiple crews.

The Skeleton Throne on Plunder Outpost is high up on the South East side of the island. It requires shooting yourself from your ship’s cannon to reach it.

Situate your ship on the South East side of the island with your cannon facing North West at the throne. Aim high and try to land down on the thrown. If you don’t aim high enough, there is a good chance you will ricochet off the rock face and miss your landing.

Thieves’ Haven

Commendation: Retreat to the Thrones’ Haven

Throne Size: Small throne, just a single crew required.

The Skeleton Throne on Thieves’ Haven is located on a rock sticking out of the water to the East of the island. This is by far the easiest throne to sit on as you can just sail your ship right next to the rock and jump on it.

Devil’s Ridge

Commendation: Sit in the Throne Beneath the Ridge

Throne Size: Small throne, just a single crew required.

The Skeleton Throne on Devil’s Ridge is located below the main peak that juts out to the North. You’ll need to cannon yourself to reach the throne.

Sail your ship to the North East side of the island with your cannon facing below the peak.

The Wilds

Shipwreck Bay

Commendation: Sit in the Throne Amongst the Wreckage

Throne Size: Large throne, multiple crews.

The Skeleton Throne on Shipwreck Bay is located on the North East side of the island. You don’t need to cannon yourself to it to reach it.

Instead, use the leaning broken mast just South of the throne to climb onto some rocks that will lead you to the throne.

See the throne on your map:

Marauder’s Arch

Commendation: Maraud in the Throne Found Up High

Throne Size: Large throne, multiple crews.

The Skeleton Throne on Marauder’s Arch is found on the highest point of the island. You’ll see it just below the withered tree.

This will be a difficult cannon shot to make! Sail your boat to the South West side of the island and face your cannons East towards the peak.

  1. My Easy Decoration

Can you give me the link to the actual store page to buy de game?? I find this Microsoft Store so confusing because it seems to be mostly Xbox products and I can’t find the Sea of Thieves PC tag. Thanks for answering though.
