The Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune is one of the six Shrines found in the Sunken Kingdom. This Shrine has been built and reinforced with the remains of pirate ships dragged beneath the waves by angry Sirens. It currently stores various treasures and trinkets salvaged from these wrecks.
The Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune is split into three floors. To traverse through the Shrine, you will have to use several platforming mechanisms built by Ocean Crawlers from the shipwrecks to get around. Though, it won’t be that simple task to use them. You will be tested on your puzzle-solving skills to access all parts of the Shrine!
This guide will walk you through the Shrine, step by step, showing you how to solve the puzzles, uncover each secret, and read every journal found within the Shrine.
You will unlock the Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune and Mystery of the Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune commendations if you follow along.
Don’t forget to store any treasure you find along the way in the Sunken Merfolk Statues!
The Shrine of Ocean's Fortune: Step by Step
Step 1: Sail to the Shrine of Ocean's Fortune
You can find The Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune in The Shores of Plenty, South East of Mermaid’s Hideaway. You can locate it on your Map Table at the coordinates D14.
As you sail closer to the Shrine, you will spot purple and blue lights swirling into the sky. These lights help indicate the exact location of the Shrine below the water.
Park your ship within the lights and dive into the water!
Step 2: Enter the Shrine of Ocean's Fortune
Once you arrive above the Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune, swim down and head to the North side of the Shrine.
Where is the entrance to the Shrine of Ocean's Fortune?
You can find the entrance to the Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune at the base of the Shrine on the Northside.
Swim to the base of the Shrine to find a large wooden door on the North side. Swim through the broken crack at the bottom of the large wooden door to enter the Shrine.
Step 3: Ascend the Bottom Floor
You will enter the Shrine on the bottom floor. This floor will have you using pulleys and anchors to position platforms allowing you to progress through the floor.
After swimming through the large wooden door, you’ll enter a chamber with a large stone pillar covered in coral in the middle of it. Walk to the right of it, hugging the right side of the chamber. You will find a pile of wooden planks next to some large white coral.
In the pile of wooden planks below a shipwrecked hull above, you will find a journal. Read it, and you will have uncovered your first secret. The name of this journal is ‘1. Your Beautiful World’.
After you read the journal, hop into the water to your left and swim around to the back of the pillar. You will find a wooden ladder on the backside that you have to climb up.
Lower Platform and Raise Anchor
At the top of the ladder, you will cross a wooden bridge that will lead you to a jail cell door. Turn left and follow the path to a pulley on a ledge surrounded by a shipwrecked hull.
Use that pulley to bring a platform all the way down near the jail cell door. You will use this platform to cross over a gap.
Jump across the newly created path with the platform you moved to arrive at an anchor. To the left of the anchor is a small chamber with treasure and a Sunken Merfolk Statue to store it in.
You’ll also find a coral lever to pull in the South West side of the small chamber that will open the jail cell door. Use it to open the door, as this will come in handy to get through this path later.
As you walk over to the coral lever, look for a journal on the ground to your left right before the coral lever. Read it to uncover the second secret. The name of this journal is ‘2. I’m Close, I Can Feel It’.
After pulling the coral lever, go back to the anchor and raise it to rotate two wooden platforms that will create a path for you to jump across.
Lower Mast
Jump across the two platforms you just rotated with the anchor to access a path to the East. Once across, climb up a ladder to find yourself in a room with lots of treasure and a pulley. Interact with the pulley to lower a coral-covered mast in the main chamber of the Shrine.
Lower Anchor
After lowering the mast, backtrack to the anchor and go back in the small chamber with the coral lever.
On the North East side of the small chamber, opposite the coral lever, is a ladder. Climb up it to find another pulley. Use the pulley to raise the platform you lowered earlier back to where it was.
Continue past the pulley to a mast beam that will lead to the platform you just raised.
Crossing the beam and jumping on the platform, you should be able to reach the coral-covered mast you lowered earlier. Hop onto the mast and walk into a room where you will fight some Coral Skeletons.
After you fight the Coral Skeletons, continue up the path. You will find a journal on the ground to your left on your way up. It will be right before the wood plank bridge over to the next anchor up ahead. Read it, and you will have uncovered the third secret. The name of this journal is ‘3. Love is Stronger than Hate’.
Walk over to the second anchor. You will need to lower the anchor and quickly jump on the wooden platform next to it. As the anchor slowly lowers, the platform will rotate forward, hopefully with you on it!
As the platform you are on rotates around, you will need to jump to another platform that will pass by in front of you to continue. Once the platforms have stopped moving, jump off and continue forward.
You will walk across a beam to some treasure on the Southside of the chamber. After that beam, you will then cross another beam to the North West side of the chamber. Finally, climb up the ladder and prepare for the next floor!
Step 4: Ascend the Middle Floor
This floor is only accessible by navigating through the bottom floor. Here you will find where the Sirens and Ocean Crawler’s store their salvaged treasure for safekeeping.
As soon as you enter the second floor, you will end up in a room where you will need to battle several Ocean Crawlers and Coral Skeletons. After you have dispatched them, you will climb through a path of wooden and coral platforms until you come to the exit at the North West side of the room.
Before exiting the room, be sure to read the journal hidden here. You can find it on the ground floor of this room lying on a piece of shipwreck surrounded by plants in the North by North West side of the room. If you have trouble finding it, face the Coral Plinth on the bottom floor and walk left, hugging the wall until you find the journal. Read the journal to uncover the next secret. The name of this journal is ‘4. I Have Failed You’.
Exit this room to move on to the final floor of the Shrine!
Step 5: Complete Top Floor
The top floor is made up of a large and intricate mast that dominates the chamber. You can control the mast with multiple pulleys to make your way up to the top.
To start your ascent, climb up the path found on the South by South West side of the chamber.
First Mast Position
As you turn a corner, you’ll come to a ship wheel. Use the ship wheel to rotate the mast in the middle of the room. You will want to spin the mast until the beam on your level is rotated so the side with the platform is right next to you to your right. Then, you can use it to hop across to the path to the East of the ship wheel.
Second Mast Position
Once on the other side, follow the curved path, and you will be one level higher, right above where you just were. Here, you’ll find another ship wheel. Use the ship wheel to rotate the mast so the beam on your level is pointing South West and North East. This will create a path from the platform you are standing on to the area across from you to the North East.
Once across, climb the ladder to the next platform.
Third Mast Position
Use the new ship wheel you come across to rotate the mast again. Rotate the mast until the beam on your level with the platform is right next to you.
It should be pointing South West and North East. Walk across to the next ship wheel.
Fourth Mast Position
Use this ship wheel until the long part of the beam above you is next to the ramp to your left.
The beam should be pointing West and East.
Jump across the beam, and you now have access to all the upper levels of the room where the best treasure is stashed away. You should be right in front of a Sunken Merfolk Statue.
The last journal will be on the angled shipwreck to the South, just to the right of this statue. Read it, and you will have uncovered all five mysteries of the Shrine. The name of this journal is ‘5. Do Not Give Up Hope’.
Turn in all the treasure around the top area, and then use the Sunken Merfolk Statue to leave when you have collected it all.
Where is the Breath of the Sea in the Shrine of Ocean's Fortune?
You can find the Breath of the Sea in the Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune in the middle floor of the Shrine. To reach the Coral Plinth where the Breath of the Sea sits, you’ll need to ascend the bottom floor of the Shrine.
The Breath of the Sea will only be there if you are on an active Coral Message in a Bottle voyage that leads you to this Shrine.
