The Reaper Gunpowder Runs Event has descended upon the Sea of Thieves. As you sail the sea, expect plenty of explosive chaos and an abundance of Reaper’s Bone Emissaries taking advantage of the Event’s rewards!
What is the Reaper Gunpowder Runs Event?
During the Reaper Gunpowder Runs, you can embark on a time-limited Voyage, sell Gunpowder Barrels to the Reaper’s Bones for extra Gold and Reputation, and complete a variety of Goals that reward you with Gold, Renown, and Reaper’s Bones Reputation.
While there aren’t any cosmetic rewards to unlock during this Event, there is plenty of Gold, Renown, and Reaper’s Bones Reputation to earn.
The Reaper Gunpowder Runs Event will be active from January 17th (10:00 AM UTC) to January 20th (10:00 AM UTC).
A Reaper Gunpowder Run
The Reaper Gunpowder Run Voyage is a multi-chapter, time-limited Voyage that will have you digging up explosive treasure at Skeleton Forts for the Reaper’s Bones.
For each Chapter of the Voyage, you must complete one X Marks the Spot Quest at a Skeleton Fort. The Voyage will always give you the same X Marks the Spot Quests per Chapter, meaning you and every other crew doing the Voyage will always visit the same Skeleton Forts in the same order. The Skeleton Forts you’ll visit in order are:
- Sailor’s Knot Stronghold
- Hidden Spring Keep
- Skull Keep
- Fort of the Damned
As you progress through the Chapters, the X Marks the Spot Quest you receive will have one more piece of treasure to dig up than the last, starting with two and ending with five.
The treasure you can dig up during the Voyage includes Gunpowder Barrels, Stronghold Gunpowder Barrels, Kegs of Ancient Black Powder, Firebomb Crates, Chests of Rage, Reaper’s Chests, and Reaper’s Bounties.
If you have a Reaper’s Bones Emissary Flag raised during the Voyage, you should reach Emissary Grade V by the end if you dig and pick up each piece of treasure from the Voyage. Every Gunpowder Barrel you pick up on this Voyage will increase your Reaper’s Bones Emissary Grade.
Gunpowder Boost
Not only will you receive Reaper’s Bones Emissary Grade for Gunpowder Barrels, but they will also reward you with more Gold and Reputation!
During the Event, you can earn boosted Gold and Reputation for any Gunpowder Barrels, Stronghold Gunpowder Barrels, and Kegs of Ancient Blac Powder you sell to the Reaper’s Bones.
The Gunpowder Barrel has the most significant boost, worth ten times its usual amount. The Stronghold Gunpowder Barrel and Keg of Ancient Black Powder are worth five times as much.
Gauntlet of Goals
There are seven Goals for you to work on throughout the Event. Completing a Goal will reward you with Gold, Renown, and Reaper’s Bones Reputation. All seven Goals will be active as soon as the Event begins and will end when the Event ends.
Black Powder Pirate
Complete a Reaper Gunpowder Run to achieve this Goal.
To complete this Goal, you must complete one Reaper Gunpowder Run Voyage during the Event. You can find the Reaper Gunpowder Run Voyage in the Special Voyages section of your ship’s Quest Table.
You don’t need to sell any treasure you collect during the Voyage to complete it. Just make sure you dig up every piece from each X Marks the Spot Quest you receive during the Voyage to finish it and complete this Goal.
Unrivaled Reaper
Reach Grade V while flying The Reaper’s Bones Emissary Flag to achieve this Goal.
To complete this Goal, you must reach Reaper’s Bones Emissary Grade V. You can reach Emissary Grade V in various ways, such as fighting in Hourglass Faction Battles or picking up pieces of treasure. However, you can also achieve this Goal by completing the Reaper Gunpowder Run Voyage. By the end of the Voyage, you will reach Reaper’s Bones Emissary Grade V by digging and picking up each piece of treasure the Voyage offers.
Thief of Fortune
Deliver Kegs of Ancient Black Powder to The Reaper’s Bones to achieve this Goal.
To complete this Goal, you must sell three Kegs of Ancient Black Powder to The Reaper’s Bones. You can find Kegs of Ancient Black Powder in the Vault of a Fort of Fortune, during the Athena’s Fortune Emissary Quest, and from the Reaper Gunpowder Run Voyage.
Fortress Conqueror
Unlock the Vault in the Fort of the Damned to achieve this Goal.
To complete this Goal, you must open the Vault of the Fort of the Damned. You don’t have to be the pirate or crew to physically put the key in the lock. You just need to be on the Fort of the Damned when the Vault is opened to receive credit.
Emissary of Explosions
Kill skeletons with Gunpowder Barrel or Black Powder Dart explosions while flying The Reaper’s Bones Emissary Flag to achieve this Goal.
To complete this Goal, you must kill 50 skeletons with Gunpowder Barrels, Black Powder Darts from a Blowpipe, Firebombs, or Fireworks while flying a Reaper’s Bones Emissary Flag.
You can kill any skeletons to receive credit. However, a quick way to find skeletons to kill is by completing Order of Souls Bounty Voyages or diving to Skeleton Forts.
Blade of Honour
Defeat the Burning Blade and pledge your crew to Captain Flameheart to achieve this Goal.
To complete this Goal, you must defeat the Burning Blade and pledge your crew to Captain Flameheart. You can find the Burning Blade during the Burning Blade World Event. You can’t dive to this World Event, so you must discover it emergently while sailing the sea.
Once you find the ship, you must ensure it is Skeleton-Controlled and not Player-Controlled. If the Burning Blade is already Player-Controlled, you won’t be able to pledge your crew to it. Once you defeat the Burning Blade, board the ship and pledge your crew to Captain Flameheart at the table in the Captain’s Cabin.
Reaper Supreme
Complete all other Goals to achieve this one and gain a large amount of Reaper’s Bones reputation.
To complete this Goal, you must complete the previous six Goals. Once you do, you will receive a large amount of Reaper’s Bones Reputation.
