Pop-Up Plunder has appeared! If you receive that toast while sailing the sea, you’ll want to immediately stop what you are doing and focus on finding some freshly buried treasure!
Time is of the essence because you will be racing against the clock and every other crew on your server to find the high-value piece of loot before it’s gone!
What is Pop-Up Plunder
Pop-Up Plunder is a piece of treasure that the Community team from Rare can bury at specific locations across all active Sea of Thieves servers. The Pop-Up Plunder will only be discoverable for a limited time, an hour, to be precise.
Pop-Up Plunder can be a variety of different types of treasure. You can expect to dig up Collector’s Chests filled with Siren Gems, Chests of Legends, and Chests of Fortune! It can even be a Box of Wondrous Secrets!
Every time Pop-Up Plunder becomes available, you’ll receive an in-game toast and a Pop-Up Plunder Quest Note to notify you.
There is only one piece of Pop-Up Plunder per server. So, once a crew secures and sells it, it’s gone for everyone else on that server!
However, if a crew digs up the Pop-Up Plunder before you, you still have a chance at intercepting it! Like a Reaper’s Chest, a map marker for the Pop-Up Plunder will appear on every ship’s Map Table, broadcasting its location to everyone on the server.
If a crew has sold the Pop-Up Plunder on your server, you could also try switching servers to find another active one. You might find a less contentious server.
How do you find the Pop-Up Plunder?
To find where the Community team has buried the Pop-Up Plunder, you must check the Sea of Thieves social channels for clues. You’ll need to decipher riddles and maps to discover the Pop-Up Plunder’s location.
Once you solve where the Community team has buried the Pop-Up Plunder, you’ll want to sail to its location as quickly as possible to dig it up and sell it!
Some Pop-Up Plunder maps will feature decoy dig spots, also known as Pop-Up Blunder! These maps will have more than one X, with all but one of the dig locations leading to mischievous duds. Some duds might even be explosive Gunpowder Barrels, for which you must be on your toes!
Season 14 Community Weekend
The Community team at Rare will place Pop-Up Plunder on every active server multiple times throughout the Season 14 Community Weekend event! Every time the community collectively levels up the Community Emissary Grade, they’ll introduce a new Pop-Up Plunder for everyone to find.
They’ll even continue to periodically add Pop-Up Plunder after the community hits Grade Five until the event ends!
Where is the Pop-Up Plunder right now?
Until 4am UTC/8pm PT, you can find the Pop-Up Plunder on Molten Sands Fortress at the map coordinates Z-11. You’ll want to dig in the campsite at the end of the trail on the volcano.

I don’t use socials, how can I find this pop up loot?
The current pop up plunder (sailors knot) was in the sandy patch a little further past the palm tree….corner by the wall. Ashen Athena! GL!
Tried for a some plunder on plunder at the near the row boat in beach looked everywhere found nothing , don’t think it’s there at all
It’s really precise. Try the sand right in front of the dock.
We are there now and did 4 paces west and it is not there, we have dug all around and not anywhere around flag
It sounds like you were a bit late? The plunder disappears after the expiration time.
We were at Rubys Fall when the pop up came up and went immediately to white flag and counted 4 paces west and there was no treasure there. So dug in several spots around and still nothing. There were no other ships in the area
Hmm…are you sure you were there during the right time? You also need to make sure you still have the note in your inventory. We’ve noticed that even if you get the notification that sometimes the loot isn’t there unless you also have the corresponding note.
Update?
Aye! Sorry! We didn’t solve it until 15 or so minutes left. As soon as we figured it out it was Plunder Valley we updated the article. Hopefully you got at least one of them!
