Pirates have been using cannons and other interesting methods to position themselves in difficult-to-reach locations, such as high peaks and rival ships. With the Harpoon Tightrope, you now have one more tool in your arsenal to gain the positional advantage on any foe you encounter!
Harpoon Tightrope
The Harpoon Tightrope allows you to walk along a Harpoon rope attached to almost any surface, including ships. Whether you harpoon a rock, beach, tree, or ship, you can walk across the rope and reach the other side as long as you keep your balance and the rope!
Depending on the angle, you can even slide down the rope. However, if it is too steep, you won’t be able to walk up it.
You can use the ability to walk across a Harpoon rope to board another vessel, create a path to a hard-to-reach location on an island, and transfer loot to and from your ship.
How to use the Harpoon Tightrope
To use the Harpoon Tightrope, shoot your ship’s harpoon into any surface. If the rope remains, walk up to it and press Y or R to “Balance on rope.”
You can disengage from the rope at any point by pressing B or F and jump off it by pressing A or Space. You’ll also automatically hop off at the end of the rope.
When you are on the rope, you can walk forward and backward. However, walking along the rope is much more complicated than walking on land or your ship. You’ll need to keep your balance as you walk!
How to balance on the Harpoon Tightrope
To balance on the Harpoon Tightrope, use the Left Stick or A/D to keep your pirate centered and on the rope. You’ll need to adjust your position left and right to counter the direction you are falling in.
So, for example, as you walk down the rope and start to lean to the left, you’ll want to hold Right on the Left Stick or D to lean center. If you lean too far to the left or right, you will fall off. The longer you walk on a rope the harder it will become to balance.
What can you do when on the Harpoon Tightrope?
Since you need both arms free to balance across the Harpoon Tightrope, you can’t wield any items or weapons while crossing. However, you can still bring treasure while using the rope. Like ladders, you’ll store the item on your back until you are off the rope.
You’ll need to be mindful of the rope’s angle and where it ends. If the rope is too steep, you’ll slide down it and won’t be able to walk up it. Also, if the rope ends in the water, you’ll automatically detach when you hit the water’s surface.
And yes, you can sprint on the rope. However, balancing will be more difficult!
Don’t worry if someone is already on the Harpoon Tightrope. Multiple pirates can be on the rope at the same time and cross through each other.
