The Sunken Kingdom has always lurked beneath the waves, hiding its beauty and terror from the Sea of Thieves. But after the arrival of Davy Jones, the Sunken Kingdom has awoken!
The Sunken Kingdom now lures pirates to the depths of the ocean with the promise of riches. A few lucky pirates might find that promise fulfilled. But, other pirates, less fortunate, will find hungry Sirens waiting to trap them and use their remains and ships to build their kingdom!
What is the Sunken Kingdom?
The Sunken Kingdom is made up of six unique Siren Shrines and three unique Siren Treasuries. They are visible on your ship’s Map Table.
You can gain access to these Shrines and Treasuries by parking your ship above them and swimming deep below the ocean’s surface to where they reside.
You can visit either the Shrines as you hunt for Coral Treasure or the Treasuries for an on-demand combat experience whenever you want.
Siren Shrines
Siren Shrines are giant underwater structures filled with treasure and puzzles. You can walk in some Shrines, but other Shrines filled with water will require you to swim through them.
The farther you ascend through the Shrine, the more treasure you will discover. You will also find secrets in the form of journals hidden away in the dark corners of the Shrines as you explore through them.
Each Shrine has its own identity as the Sirens built them for varied purposes. For example, Sirens use one of the Shrines to store treasure collected from curious pirates, while they use another Shrine to pay respects to the Siren Queen.
You will not be able to simply walk around a Shrine and collect all the treasure it has to offer. Instead, Siren Shrines will challenge your puzzle-solving skills as you navigate through obstacles to access the hidden locations within the underwater structures.
You will find two Shrines in each of the three original regions in the Sea of Thieves.
The six Siren Shrines are:
- Shrine of Hungering
- Shrine of the Coral Tomb
- Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune
- Shrine of Ancient Tears
- Shrine of Flooded Embrace
- Shrine of Tribute
If you need help completing any one of these Shrines, be sure to check out our Siren Shrine guides. They will help you solve each puzzle and find each journal during your adventure through the Sunken Kingdom.
Siren Treasuries
There is also a Siren Treasury in each original region. Siren Treasuries are underwater structures where pirates can test their combat skills against a range of enemy threats.
As the Treasuries hold precious treasures, Sirens have made sure to leave them heavily guarded. If you manage to defeat the Ocean Crawlers and Sirens left to defend the Treasuries, you will gain access to a vault of treasure.
The three Siren Treasuries are:
- Treasury of Sunken Shores
- Treasury of the Lost Ancients
- Treasury of the Secret Wilds
How do I reach the Sunken Kingdom?
You can see the locations of the Shrines and Treasuries in the Sunken Kingdom on your ship’s Map Table. Sail over to the Shrine or Treasury you wish to explore and once you are above it, swim directly down to the Shrines and Treasuries.
You can follow the swirling light and bubbles to help guide you to the Shrine or Treasury. You should also be able to see the Shrine or Treasury after swimming straight down for a moment.
The aerated water above the Shrine and Treasury make it possible to reach these towering monuments without drowning,
What about my ship?
The Sunken Kingdom is a high-risk, high-reward situation. While below the water in the Sunken Kingdom, your ship will be left unattended. You will have to choose when and how long to leave your ship for as you explore the depths of the ocean.
That’s where Sunken Merfolk Statues come in! Though dreadful Sirens in the Sunken Kingdom might surround you, your friendly neighborhood mermaids have found a way to lend a hand!
You can use Sunken Merfolk Statues to safeguard any treasure you find below as well as to quickly travel back to your ship.
Sunken Merfolk Statue
You can find Sunken Merfolk Statues throughout the Sunken Kingdom. They allow you to store up to 20 items of treasure inside a shell as you explore. This limit is set for your crew, so it does not impact you if another crew has treasure stored in the same Shrine or Treasury.
To retrieve the treasure you store in a Sunken Merfolk Statue, head back to the surface and wait above the Shrine or Treasury. A mermaid with a purple plume of smoke will appear, carrying a shell full of the treasure you stored. Interact with the mermaid to ask them to give it back to you.
As long as you stay in the same session, the mermaid will always appear above that Shrine or Treasury for you until you collect the treasure.
So if your ship sunk while you were battling in a Treasury, you can come back later with a new ship and collect the treasure from the mermaid without worry.
Only your crew can collect your treasure!
Coral Treasure
Exploring the Siren Shrines and Sire Treasuries will reward crews with coral treasures for their exploration.
You can sell coral chests to the Gold Hoarders, coral skulls to the Order of Souls, and coral caskets to the Merchant Alliance.
Crews can even find coral Treasure Chests containing coral artifacts for returning to the Gold Hoarders.
The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom Voyage
After you read all 30 journals found throughout the Siren Shrines, you will be able to purchase The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom voyage from Larinna.
Completing this voyage will unlock the unique Curse of Sunken Sorrow.
