Pirates torn between using a Flintlock for its range and a Blunderbuss for its damage now have an excellent middle ground to wield: the Double Barrel Pistol.
While the Flintlock and Blunderbuss are still preferable if you want to focus on each of their strengths, the Double Barrel Pistol is the perfect weapon for those who wish to deal considerable damage quickly and accurately.
Double Barrel Pistol
The Double Barrel Pistol is a loadout weapon with two barrels, allowing for two distinct fire modes: single and double shot. You can fire off two shots, one from each barrel, before reloading or fire both barrels together for a double shot.
The Double Barrel Pistol holds six bullets, two in each barrel. Like all other weapons, you can fire the Double Barrel Pistol from the hip or aim down sights.
To balance the pistol’s ability to fire two consecutive or simultaneous shots, the Double Barrel Pistol has a slightly shorter range than the Flintlock. The damage per bullet also does lower damage than the Flintlock. And while it is considerably more accurate than the Blunderbuss, its double shot is not as powerful.
However, if distance isn’t a concern, the Double Barrel Pistol is more efficient at delivering damage, resulting in a faster time to kill than the Flintlock. You can also quickly deliver damage consecutively to multiple targets.
Since you can shoot the pistol’s bullets however you choose, you have more choices regarding where to direct your damage: quickly hit two targets in succession or unload into one for a bigger impact.
How do you get a Double Barrel Pistol?
Similar to the Blunderbuss, Cutlass, Eye of Reach, and Flintlock, you can equip it as one of your two loadout choices at the Armory on your ship. You don’t need to purchase it or find it out on the sea.
You can also restock its ammo using any Ammo Crate, Armoury, and Ammo Pouch.
Double Barrel Pistol Attacks
The Double Barrel Pistol has two different firing modes: single and double shot.
Single Shot
The single shot firing mode allows you to shoot individual bullets in quick succession, meaning you can quickly shoot twice before needing to reload.
To use the single shot firing mode, fire your pistol like any other weapon by pressing the Right Trigger or Left Mouse Button. You will fire one of the two barrels.
With the single shot firing mode, you have the option to manually reload after the first shot or you can wait until you fire your second shot.
You will always fire Double Barrel Pistol from left to right when shooting single shots consecutively.
Currently, a single bullet from the Double Barrel Pistol does 40 damage.
Double Shot
The double shot firing mode allows you to shoot two bullets simultaneously, dealing double the damage.
To use the double shot firing mode, briefly hold down the Right Trigger or Left Mouse Button before releasing. You will pull back both hammers on the pistol, priming both shots. After you release, you will fire both bullets, which will deal more damage than a single shot.
Currently, firing both bullets from the Double Barrel Pistol does 80 damage.
Double Barrel Pistol Damage
Even though the Double Parrel Pistol is weaker than most weapons when firing a single bullet, Skeletons and other non-pirate enemies that you can usually defeat in one shot can also be defeated with one shot from the Double Barrel Pistol.
