You can now find Coral Messages in a Bottle washed up on beaches of familiar islands, inside the hulls of shipwrecks, and floating amongst Barrels of Plenty. So the next time you spot the glint of a Message in a Bottle from a distance, be sure to investigate to see if it is of the coral variety.
The Coral Message in a Bottle holds a unique quest. This quest will lead you down to a nearby Siren Shrine or Siren Treasury in the Sunken Kingdom. Not only will you be gathering any riches you find beneath the waves, but you have the opportunity to uncover a mysterious treasure that you can only obtain from this quest, the Breath of the Sea!
What is a Coral Message in a Bottle Quest
The Coral Message in a Bottle is an emergent quest that you can find on island beaches, shipwrecks, and Barrels of Plenty. Once picked up, you will receive a note for the Coral Message in a Bottle Quest. This note will lead you to a Siren Shrine or Siren Treasury holding the quest-exclusive treasure, the Breath of the Sea.
What is the Breath of the Sea
The Breath of the Sea is a mysterious treasure that contains the same power held inside the Mermaid and Siren Gems. There are three different rarities, each offering greater rewards: Sapphire, Emerald, and Ruby.
You can only find Breath of the Sea treasure during an active Coral Message in a Bottle Quest.
The quest will direct you to a Siren Shrine or Treasury that holds the Breath of the Sea. To successfully collect one, you will need to solve puzzles and fight off sharks, Ocean Crawlers, and Sirens.
Once in your possession, you can sell the Breath of the Sea to any Trading Company for a generous reward.
How to start a Coral Message in a Bottle Quest
To start the quest, you must first find a Coral Message in a Bottle. They will appear randomly on beaches of islands throughout the Sea of Thieves. As you sail around, jump off on islands you pass by, and scour the beaches for the Coral Message in a Bottle.
Once you pick one up, the quest will begin.
How to complete a Coral Message in a Bottle Quest
To complete the quest, sail to the Siren Shrine or Siren Treasury the note directs you to. You will be looking for a large red Coral Plinth that holds the Breath of the Sea.

You can usually find these Coral Plinths towards the end of the Shrine after completing several puzzles.
Picking up the Breath of the Sea from the Coral Plinth will complete the quest.
Finding the Breath of the Sea
Inside every Siren Shrine and Treasury is a Coral Plinth upon which you can find the Breath of the Sea. However, be prepared to explore and defeat Ocean Crawlers and Sirens, as to reach the plinth requires some progress to be made.
Other crews can’t find the Breath of the Sea until your crew picks it up. But as soon as that happens, it can be stolen like any other treasure!
Ensure you escort it up to the surface or store it in the new Sunken Merfolk Statue for it to be collected!
