There are three optional rats to find during the A Dark Deception Adventure! While you don’t need to locate these rats to complete the Adventure, you need to interact with them to complete every Deed and unlock the Adventure-exclusive Title.
Below are the locations for the three additional rats hidden throughout the Sea of Thieves.
You don’t need to have the Adventure active to find the rats. Simply sail to the island during your time at sea and interact with the rat to receive credit for finding it.
Search the Blackwyche
A secret lies within the wreck of Pendragon’s old galleon at Shipwreck bay.
The first optional rat you can find is inside the Blackwyche on Shipwreck Bay. To find the rat, dock your ship on the island’s Southside, where you’ll find a giant shipwreck split in half.
Walk over to the Captain’s Cabin of the shipwreck, the piece to the East, and walk inside. You will find the rat behind the table in the corner of the cabin. Interact with it to find the rat and complete the Deed.

Search near Madame Olive
Something strange has been sighted near the Order of Souls pavilion on Sanctuary Outpost.
You can find the second optional rat beside the Order of Souls structure on Sanctuary Outpost. To find the rat, head over to the North East side of the Outpost, where you will find all the Trading Companies.
Walk over to the Order of Souls and stand on the side with the stairs leading up to the Pirate Emporium. You will find the rat underneath the stairs. Interact with it to find the rat and complete the Deed.

Search Port Merrick

The third optional rat is beside the Mysterious Stranger on Port Merrick. To find the rat, head over to the Tavern at the center of the port.
Once inside the Tavern, walk over to the side of the Tavern where the Mysterious Stranger is. You will find the rat by the bench with the Glitterbeard journal. Interact with it to find the rat and complete the Deed.
