A raging Grand Boar has stolen a pile of Hunter’s Call treasure and hidden it somewhere on a nearby island. Brave hunters up to the task can recover the stolen treasure and earn themselves a mighty Boar Tusk for defeating the fierce beast.

What is the Pirate's Boar Hunt Voyage?

A Pirate’s Boar Hunt is a single-chapter Hunter’s Call Voyage. During the Voyage, you’ll hunt down and defeat a Grand Boar on a large island. Optionally, you can also find a wallow full of Hunter’s Call treasure on the island.

To hunt down the Grand Boar, you’ll explore the island, looking for prints and dropped fruit that will lead you to the animal.

Defeating the Grand Boar will reward you with two Grisly Boar Tusks and complete the Voyage.

Quest Table

How do you start the Voyage?

To start the Pirate’s Boar Hunt Voyage, go to your Quest Table, choose Voyages, and then select the Hunter’s Call Trading Company. Under Hunting Voyages, you’ll see A Pirate’s Boar Hunt. You must be at least Hunter’s Call Reputation Level 15 to start the Voyage.

A Pirate's Boar Hunt: Step by Step

Step 1: Start the Voyage

Vote on the Voyage from your Quest Table to start the A Pirate’s Boar Hunt Voyage. You can either Sail or Dive to the Voyage.

Once you’ve voted for and started A Pirate’s Boar Hunt Voyage, you will receive a Boar Hunting Note. On that note, you’ll find which island the Grand Boar inhabits and how to track it. You can equip and read the note from your Quest Radial.

Before heading out on your hunt, we suggest grabbing a Hunting Spear or two, as they are incredibly effective against Wild Boars.

Step 2: Sail or Dive to the island

If you vote to Sail to the Voyage, you will venture to a nearby large island. If you vote to Dive, you will emerge in front of a random large island after traveling beneath the waves.

Step 3: Find the Wild Boar

Once on the island, you can start searching for the Grand Boar. While you can randomly come across it as you explore the island, you can make your search easier by looking for prints and a trail of dropped fruit.

As the Grand Boar roams across the island, it will leave tracks in the sand, dirt, and grass. The tracks don’t last long, so you’ll want to stay on the trail once you find some. The Grand Boar will also drop pieces of fruit around the island for you to follow.

If you can’t visibly find traces of the Grand Boar, you can instead listen for it. The Grand Boar’s snorts and squeals sound deeper than normal Pigs, so if you listen carefully, you can pinpoint its location.

Once you locate the Grand Boar, keep your distance! Before alerting the Grand Boar to your presence, you’ll want to throw a Hunting Spear at it to deal a substantial initial blow. You’ll want to Crouch to get as close as you can to the Grand Boar for a clear shot.

When you damage the Grand Boar or get too close, it will flee or charge you with a vicious ram. The Grand Boar’s attack deals a range of damage. If you are not careful, it can kill you in just two hits!

Prints

Step 4: Defeat the Wild Boar

Once you hit it with a Hunting Spear, rush the Boar and attack it with a Cutlass, Firearm, Blunderbomb, or other weapon.

You want to keep pressure on the Grand Boar once you engage, as it can replenish its health by eating any fruit it finds on the ground as it runs away. If you lose the Grand Boar, regroup and track the prints it left behind until you locate it again.

The Grand Boar’s health scales to the size of your crew, so you should coordinate your attacks with them if you plan on quickly taking it out.

Throw Hunting Spear

Once you defeat the Grand Boar, it will drop two Grisly Boar Tusks that you can sell to the Hunter’s Call, Reaper’s Bones, or Sovereigns. Don’t expect to find a Pristine Boar Tusk. You can only recover those from emergent Grand Boars that you can randomly find on large islands.

Grisly Tusks are worth 1,000 to 1,500 Gold and Pristine Tusks worth 2,000 to 3,000 Gold.

The Wallow

While finding and defeating the Grand Boar will complete the Voyage, the real reward is at the wallow, where the Grand Boar has stashed five pieces of stolen treasure.

You can search the island for the wallow or let the Grand Boar let it lead you to it. If you keep your distance, the Grand Boar will roam the island and periodically check in on its treasure at the wallow.

If you look for the wallow without the Grand Boar’s help, you will want to search the island’s interior. While wallows can be near the beach, you won’t find them on the sand right by the water. You also won’t find wallows inside caves, so you don’t need to search there.

The pieces of treasure in the wallow glint white from a distance, making the wallow easier to spot.

Once you find the wallow, you’ll find five pieces of partially buried Hunter’s Call treasure. You’ll need to dig up each piece before picking it up and carrying it back to your ship.

Once you kill the Grand Boar, collect the Boar Tusks, and dig up Hunter’s Call Treasure, you can return to any Hunter’s Call, Reaper’s Bones, or Sovereign representative to sell.
