The next time you and your crew are hatching a devious plot against an enemy pirate crew, you’ll want to equip your Speaking Trumpet. No, not to shout your strategy across the sea, but to whisper your plans to those closest to you.
Using your handy Speaking Trumpet to whisper will help keep your crew’s conversations private by reducing the range that other pirates can hear your in-game Crew Chat.
Your crew and other crews will have to be very close to hear you in-game while you whisper.
How to Whisper
To whisper, you must first equip your Speaking Trumpet. Then, with your Speaking Trumpet equipped, hold the “Secondary Use” button (Left Trigger/Right Mouse Button). Holding down the “Secondary Use” button will turn the Speaking Trumpet around, dampening any noise that passes through it and allowing you to whisper when using in-game voice chat.
You have to love that Sea of Thieves pirate science!
When you use the Speaking Trumpet to whisper, your voice will broadcast over a much shorter distance, meaning you can keep any conversation private with those closest to you.
Make sure you are not holding down the Right Trigger/Left Mouse Button. That will project your voice across the sea as it always has done since the Speaking Trumpet came to be.
