As you trek to the top of the Twisted Sea Dog Tavern, you’ll need to raise two capstans. Unfortunately, the Dark Brethren have protected each capstan with a magical barrier you will need to remove by lighting braziers and beacons.
The first capstan is at the halfway point and will allow you to continue the last portion of your ascent. The second capstan is near the end and will directly lead you to Merrick!
How to raise the first capstan
To raise the first capstan, you will need to light five braziers located along the path to the capstan.
The first brazier is at the start of the stairs up to the tavern on the main jetty.
You’ll find the second brazier on your right after climbing the first flight of stairs.
The third brazier is on the walkway that curves around the tavern. It will be to your left as you make your way around.
The fourth brazier is tucked away near the entrance to the tavern. It is sitting on a wooden crate placed atop some rocks across from the tavern sign.
The fifth and final brazier is near the beacon you lit to reveal the main jetty.
After you light all five braziers, the barrier around the capstan will disappear, and you will be able to raise it.
How to raise the second capstan
To raise the second capstan, you must light three braziers and three beacons. The beacons you need to ignite will be hidden until you light their corresponding brazier on the path to the top.
The first brazier is at the start of the Sea Dog Tavern Challenge Route. Once you light that, the first beacon you need to ignite with the Northern Lighthouse will appear.
Lighting that beacon will allow you to continue traversing the path where you will find the second brazier. Lighting the second brazier will reveal the second beacon to the East that you need to ignite with the Eastern Lighthouse.
Once you reveal more walkways by lighting the second beacon, you will come across the third brazier. Light the third brazer, and the third beacon to the South will appear. Use the Eastern Lighthouse again to light it.
Once you have lit all three braziers and beacons, the capstan will be accessible!
