One of the many puzzles you must solve during The Quest for Guybrush Tall Tale is how to purchase the Mighty Pirate Sword. You need the sword and two other items before starting the Three Trials.
If you approach the Mighty Pirate Sword, you’ll see that you can purchase it with Store Credit. You’ll first need to speak with the Storekeeper to get Store Credit.
Purchase the Mighty Pirate Sword
To purchase the Mighty Pirate Sword, you must forge a Blank Credit Note with Governor Guybrush’s signature. You’ll need to get a Blank Note and find the necessary items to forge Guybrush’s signature. To get started, you’ll need to speak with the Storekeeper.
Speak with Storekeeper
Enter the General Store and talk with the Storekeeper. Choose the last dialogue option, asking him about store credit. He will mention that he has some spare Notes of Credit lying around. However, you’ll need to get them signed by the Governor before you can use them.
The Storekeeper will then add a Blank Credit Note to your Quest Radial.
Sign Blank Credit Note
Go to the second floor of the Governor’s Mansion and walk over to Guybrush. You can interact with him to pickpocket him. You will pick up a key you can use on the small footlocker beside the door to his office. Open the footlocker, and you will find a Captain’s Inkwell.
Pick up the Captain’s Inkwell and place it on Guybrush’s desk. You’ll next need to find something to write with. Head downstairs and pick up the Wiritng Quill from the table by the large picture of Guybrush. Place the Writing Quill on the desk next to the inkwell.
Equip the Blank Credit Note from your Quest Radial and place it on the desk. You can then interact with the note to forge a Signed Credit Note.
After you’ve signed the note, pick it up and return it to the Storekeeper.
Give Signed Credit Note to Storekeeper
Give the Signed Credit Note to the Storekeeper, who will accept it. You can now purchase the Mighty Pirate Sword and the Rubber Chicken from him using the credit.
