The Orb of the Banished is a highly sought-after piece of treasure in the Sea of Thieves. With every Trading Company sending its most dedicated Emissaries to hunt down the Orb, grabbing the Orb yourself will be no easy task!
You’ll need to brave the seas as an Emissary, vanquish a fearsome Eternal Guard, activate Molten Sands Fortress, and unlock the Vault to obtain the Orb. All while fighting off other crews attempting to do the same!
Orb of the Banished
To get an Orb of the Banished, you must complete the Molten Sands Fortress World Event. After completing the World Event, you will receive a Stronghold Key that you can use to open the fortress Vault. Inside the Vault, you will find an Orb of the Banished. It is on a plinth in a small alcove at the back of the Vault. There is only one inside each Vault, so you’ll need to watch out for other crews also looking to take the Orb for themselves.
Unlike most World Events that you can sail to emergently or dive to through your Quest Table, Molten Sands Fortress is a player-activated World Event. To activate Molten Sands Fortress, you’ll need to acquire a Molten Sands Key. Once you have the key, you can place it in the altar in the middle of the fortress to start the World Event.
You can get a Molten Sands Key by completing a time-limited Emissary Quest. Raising an Emissary for a Trading Company and reaching Grade V will allow you to claim the time-limited Emissary Quest. You can claim it from the Trading Company Representative at any Outpost. Once you have the Quest, equip it from your Quest Radial. It will lead you to an Eternal Guard that drops a Molten Sands key upon defeat.
Take the key to Molten Sands Fortress and activate the World Event. Completing all eight waves of enemies will reward you with a Stronghold Key. Use the key to open the Vault and grab the Orb.
