Locked inside each Sanctuary of the Banished are piles of Banished Ancient Treasure just waiting to be plundered. To unlock these dark shrines and take the treasure, you must use a Sanctuary of the Banished Key. Unfortunately, acquiring a key is easier said than done. To get a Sanctuary of the Banished Key, you must find and take down a fearsome Eternal Guard!
Sanctuary of the Banished Key
To get a Sanctuary of the Banished Key, you must defeat an Eternal Guard. Each Eternal Guard holds a key and will drop it upon defeat.
You can randomly find sarcophagi that hold an Eternal Guard on large islands across the Sea of Thieves. You have a chance of finding a sarcophagus in every region. However, you have a higher chance of finding one in The Devil’s Roar.
Once you find a sarcophagus, complete the summoning ritual by lighting all three candles on it, and take down the Eternal Guard that appears.
A Sanctuary of the Banished Key will open any of the three Sanctuaries of the Banished. You can find a Sanctuary of the Banished on Brimstone Rock, Cinder Islet, and Flame’s End. You can also sell the key to progress the Provisioner of Banished Keys Commendation. Selling three keys will complete the Commendation.
