The rare and valuable Orb of the Banished sits locked away inside the Vault of Molten Sands Fortress. To unlock the Vault, you’ll need to activate the fortress, defeat waves of enemies, and acquire a Stronghold Key.
However, to activate Molten Sands Fortress, you’ll need a Molten Sands Key! Luckily, the Trading Companies know where you can find one. Become one of their dedicated Emissaries, and they will give you a time-limited Emissary Quest that leads the way!
Molten Sands Key
To get a Molten Sands Key, you must complete a time-limited Emissary Quest from any of the Trading Companies. Defeating the Eternal Guard from the Emissary Quest will reward you with a Molten Sands Key.
To claim a time-limited Emissary Quest, you must first represent a Trading Company as an Emissary. Once you are Reputation Level 15 with a Trading Company, you can purchase an Emissary License from their Company Shop. Having the Emissary License allows you to vote to represent them at their Emissary Table on any Outpost.
Once you are sailing as an Emissary, you’ll need to reach Emissary Grade V. During Act 2 of Season 18, you earn boosted Emissary Grade progress from every action that gives Emissary, allowing you to reach Grade V much faster.
Once you reach Emissary Grade V, you can claim an Emissary Quest from the Trading Company Representative at any Outpost. The Emissary Quest will lead you to a large island with an Eternal Guard. Defeat the Eternal Guard, and it will drop a Molten Sands Key. Only Eternal Guards that you find from the Emissary Quest will drop the Molten Sands Key. Emergent Eternal Guards will still drop a Sanctuary of the Banished Key.
With the key in hand, you can either sell it to a Trading Company or sail to Molten Sands Fortress, activate the fortress, and complete the waves of enemies to obtain the Orb of the Banished.
