The Legends of the Sea commendations were initially intended to immortalize renowned pirates from the Sea of Thieves community. However, the latest addition is a notable exception, as the pirate being immortalized is a character from the game.
While he might not be a community member who pulled off an extraordinary stunt or the first pirate to swim across the entire sea, Merrick, the founder of the Hunter’s Call, gave his life to help protect the most precious Outpost in the Sea of Thieves!
Remembering the Fallen
To unlock the Remembering the Fallen commendation, you must find and interact with the statue of Merrick at Port Merrick.
To find the statue, you first want to set sail for Port Merrick, formally New Golden Sands Outpost, in The Shores of Plenty. Once you’ve arrived, head towards the Tavern at the island’s center. You’ll find the giant statue of Merrick outside on the North side of the Tavern.
Approach the statue and inspect the plaque at the bottom to read the inscription.
Here stands Merrick, who fought valiantly to save Golden Sands Outpost from ruin. Port Merrick was constructed to honour his memory and the pirates who joined in his struggle.
After reading the plaque, you will unlock the Remembering the Fallen commendation.
