One of the hundreds of commendations you can complete while you sail the Sea of Thieves is the Hoarder of Barnacled Gold commendation. Upon completion, you will unlock a Title, Achievement, and the ability to purchase the Silent and Bristling Barnacle cosmetics.
To work on Hoarder of Barnacled Gold, you’ll need to scour shipwrecks, defeat Skeleton Ships, and explore islands hoping to find a barnacle-covered Shipwrecked Chest.
Hoarder of Barnacled Gold Commendation
To complete the Hoarder of Barnacled Gold commendation, you must sell 300 Shipwrecked Chests to the Gold Hoarders. This commendation has five Grades, with the fifth and final Grade requirement being to sell 300 Shipwrecked Chests.
To receive credit for this commendation, you need to make sure you sell the Shipwrecked Chest to the Gold Hoarders. Selling the chest to the Reaper’s Bones will not count.
What is a Shipwrecked Chest?
Shipwrecked Chests are barnacled versions of the normal Gold Hoarders Chests. You can tell if the chest you found is a Shipwrecked Chest because it will be busted and covered in barnacles.
The possible Shipwrecked Chests are:
- Shipwrecked Castaway’s Chest
- Shipwrecked Seafarer’s Chest
- Shipwrecked Marauder’s Chest
- Shipwrecked Captain’s Chest
All four chests count towards the Hoarder of Barnacled Gold commendation when sold to the Gold Hoarders.
Where can you find Shipwrecked Chests?
You can randomly find Shipwrecked Chests inside shipwrecks, in the loot from a defeated Skeleton Ship, and on islands.
